Chapter I

There was a smal chill flowing through the tiny bar. A cloaked figure sat in the back, at a small round table. A waitor approached the figure and put on a small smile.
"Can I get you anything sir?"
"Sir?" A woman spoke from under the hood.
She lifted her head and let her hood fall. The hood revealed a teenage woman woman with shoulder length golden brown hair, and bright ameythst eyes with a stern look.
"I am not a 'Sir'," she said dully.
The waitor nodded and bowed his head slightly.
"I-I'm sorry," he apologized.
"I'll have a glass of water," she said, changing the subject.
The waitor nodded, jotted down her order on a small pad and hurried off. The woman shook herh ead and looked around the bar. No one seemed to notice the little disruption. The woman crossed her arms across her chest, put her head down and closed her eyes.
A few minutes later, the waitor came back and placed a small glass of water on the table. The woman grunted and the waitor walked away again. Once he was gone, she opened her eyes and took the glass of water, and took a sip. When she finished the glass, she placed and Emp. on the table, stood up, and left.
Once outside, she took a deep breath and smiled slightly.
"That bar was so stuffy," she said to herself.
She walked to an inn across the strt\eet and went inside. A bell above the door rang as she entered, signaling a visitor. A woman behind the counter looked up and smiled brightly at her.
"Welcome! Do you need a room?" She said cheerfully.
The woman walked over to the counter and nodded.
"Yes," she said monotnously.
The secretary grabbed a key and handed it to her.
"Six Emp."
The woman took out a pouch and opened it. It was filled with gold, silver and bronze coins. She took out a bronze coin and two silver coins, then handed them to the secretary.
"Thank you. Have a good rest,' the secretary said, becoming less cheerful, "Just, write your name down here," she continued.
She passed a sheet of paper to the woman and a pen. The woman looked down at it, then signed:
Yoru Tsukeru
The secretary took the paper and read her name. Yoru stared at her, then took the key and began to walk up a set of stairs to the right.
"It's room 311!" The secretary called out.
Yoru ignored her and continued to walk up the stairs.

"New in this town?" A voice said softly.
Yoru stopped and turned to a corner. She saw a man leaning against a the wall, covered halfway by shadow. He had short black hair and bright green eyes. He also had a cloak on, but his arms were croess against his chest, lifting his cloak up a few inches, revealing black boots and the bottom of baggy pants.
Yoru closed her eyes and shook her head.
"No, I'm just passing through."
The man smiled and pushed himself off the wall. He held out a black gloved hand to Yoru.
"Kiangi."
Yoru looked down at his hand for a second, the shook it.
"Yo--"
"Yoru, I know. You're rather famous between us demons," Kiangi interupted.
Yoru blinked a few times, then shook her head.
"That's not true," she said angrily.
Kiangi took his hand from Yoru's grasp and smiled.
"I grow tired of your games," Yoru said impatiently. "How do you know my ame?" She continued.
"All demons who lived during the dark years knows your name. I do not lie."
Yoru nodded reluctantly and put her hood down.
"And, why did you want to know if I was new here?"
"You ask many questions. It's simply becasue I've never seen you in this town before, and well, a girl could be in danger here alone."
Yoru took off her cloak, and hung it over her right arm.
"I think I'll be just fine," she said casually.
Kiangi nodded after looked over her gear.
"Right then."
Yoru wore a blood red, sleeveless shirt, and black pants. On her left arm, she had a metal armguard that covered down to the middle of her forearm. On each hand she wore a glove that went up to the middle of her forearm. On her left glove, there were three small knives sheathed. Her boots were black with half 1/2 inch heels. And finally, she had a katana sheathed on her side, with a belt wrapped around her waist, holding it.
"Well then, do you want to go for a walk?" Kiangi asked, still smiling.
Yoru threw her cloak around herself once again and nodded.
"I guess it wouldn't hurt."
Kiangi nodded and walked downstairs. Yoru followed him, placing her door key in her pocket.
"Kiangi, how did you know I was Yoru?"
Kiangi didn't turn, but opened the door to let her outside.
"We'e near Hellsreach, I had to figure you were. Besides, you looked like the girl in the pictures."
"And, what kind of demon are you?"
Kiangi remained silent for a minute, then turned to face her.
"Spirit demon with major healing powers."
Yoru smiled.
"Now, I know you're a fire demon. Do you have any special powers besides that?"
"Well, I use a bit of black and white magic myself."
Kiangi smiled and began to lead Yoru out of town. Yoru glanced at him suspiciously.
"Where are we going?"
"For a walk, remember?"
Yoru stopped suddenly and began to turn around. Kiangi stopped a few feet in front of her and smiled coldly at the ground, not turning around.
"Where are you going Yoru?"
Yoru began to walk towards town and ignored him.
Wow, we came a long way
She looked ahead at the town in the distance. She stopped abruptly when she felt something brush against her cloak and press into her stomach. She looked down and saw a katana in front of her.
"You're not going anywhere. We're going to fight here... and now."
Yoru smiled evilly.
"Really. That's not a very good way to treat a lady," she said coldly, narrowing her eyes.
Kiangi shrugged.
"I've never been a man to please the ladies."
Yoru shook her head and quickly unsheathed her katana, forcing Kiangi away with an elbow to his
stomach.
"I quite agree with you," she said angrily.
Kiangi staggered a bit, stunned by the hit to his stomach.
"Good. A match to the death then."
Yoru nodded slightly and readied her katana. Kiangi readied his own and spat on the ground. Yoru
grunted and tightened her grip, making the blade begin to emit flames.
"Ladies first."
Yoru jumped into the air and let out a pair of enormous black wings. Kiangi watched as she hung
motionless in front of him.
"You'll never get anywhere being polite!" she yelled.
She flew towards him and slashed down vigorously. Kiangi defended the attack, the flames of her
blade singeing his clothes.
Yoru jumped away from him and landed on the ground soundlessly. Her wings disappeared and
feathers fluttered to the ground.
"So, not only are you a demon, but a Draconian as well. Do you have any more secrets?" Kiangi said
monotonously.
Yoru smiled and shrugged.
"You'll see as we continue."
Kiangi nodded and ran at Yoru, then jumped over her. Yoru followed his movement, until he
stopped and raised his katana into the air.
"Cries of death! Come hither and kill!" he shouted.
Yoru spread her feet and kept her stance as the ground began to slowly rise. Corpses began to
reach their hands out of the ground, then raise their whole bodies. Yoru readied her blade as two dozen
zombies approached her.
'Is this it? A bunch of mindless flukes?" Yoru said angrily.
Kiangi smiled slightly, and swung his blade towards the ground. The zombies suddenly
straightened and faced Yoru.
"I'll let you know Yoru, I control all souls of the living and the dead. They'll do whatever I tell them to."
Yoru smirked and held out her left hand. A small fire ball formed in it and began to grow.
"You may control souls, but I control every form of fire. Even from the depths of Hell itself."
She put her hand into the air and released the ball of fire, now as big as a small house. She aimed
it at the zombies as it flew from her hand.
I'll let him play for a bit, then I'll finish him.
Kiangi watched as his zombies were blasted and destroyed. Then he glanced up at Yoru, a look of
pure loathing on his face.
"Well then, I'll just do this the easy way," he muttered.
Kiangi ran at Yoru and swung his katana at her. Yoru put her own up against his and tried to push
him away. Kiangi took his left hand off of the hilt of his katana, and thrust it at Yoru's unshielded chest,
forcing it through her body.
Yoru dropped her katana and stood there in shock for a moment. She bit her lip, trying not to
scream as Kiangi moved his arm around inside her.
"What...what're you doing!?"
She placed her hands on Kiangi's, and tried to pull his hand out of her chest.
"Get out!"
Kiangi frowned and adjusted his arm. Yoru screamed in agony, squeezing his arm. The pain was
immense, and Yoru didn't know if she could take anymore.
"Where is it?" Kiangi muttered angrily.
"Where...where's what? W - what do you want!?" Yoru stammered.
Kiangi pushed his arm further into Yoru's body and closed his eyes. Yoru bit her lip so hard, it
began to bleed.
I can't...The pain's too much...How can --
