Title: Fire X_X
TauntingDestiny - October 26, 2003 10:13 PM (GMT)
Hi everyone.
I was in Las Vegas this weekend for a basketball tournament at UNLV.
Stayed a while and had a blast. We had a great time but since we all had
to work on monday it was time to drive back. The drive was going well and we where making great time. But about an hour and a half into the drive it looked like
there was a small fire on the mountain.
we didn't think much and we continued. As we came closer we noticed more of it was lit and started to see smoke on both sides of the freeway. We were concerned but really tired and anxious to get home. After about a half hour we reached the Cajon pass and for lack of a better work were scared shitless.
The mountain on both sides of the freeway was on fire. All we could see were flames and smoke. The fire to our right was only about 400 ft. away. We went faster to get through it and cut of the vent to stop the smoke from coming in. After about 15 more minutes of me driving like 110 we got through it but we were just like damn. What happened. Turned on the news radio and found out it started on like Friday and no more than an hour after we got through it they closed the freeway.
No that were away we think, damn I wish I recorded that. It was amazing to see. To bad for all the people who have lost there homes and lives though.
Well this post is long and probably boring so I'll leave it at this.

Hi Final_Yugi That's right you live in riverside so you can see it. I bet all the ash out there really sucks and is making it hard to breathe.
Actually though after hitting the Cajon pass the 15 was closed and they deverted us to the 210 or 215. Don't remember which one for sure it was. Then it angled us back at the fire and that's where we saw it all. Then we turned on the news and they shut that freeway down an hour later.
That sucks for all the people who lost their lives. If we ever catch those arsonist I say we light their collective asses to pay for what they did. And let the victims do the lighting for a bit of payback.

It's no wonder I dislike people on the whole... I honestly can't believe the things that happen in the world nowadays. At least I know there are still a handful of decent people left, hey?
But really... When I first heard about the fires I thought Mother Nature was having a rough spot, but when I heard it was PEOPLE actually doing it my stomach rolled over. It's horrible.

Yeah! I was sickened to hear that people started the fires. I just can't believe it! I guess I'm still foolish to believe that that would never happen. How could anyone destroy nature on purpose?

I'm pretty sure at least one was arsen. Maybe Yugi or TD could fill us in a bit..
TauntingDestiny - October 30, 2003 09:06 AM (GMT)
I'm not sure if it's true but I was under the
impression they were all arsen. But my info
could be wrong. And from what a friend told
me is that they suspect that the same person
is responsible for a few of them.

From what I remember, three were purposely started ( one was fortunatley stopped before it got any bigger) and another one was by accident ( a guy got lost while hiking or biking and started a smoke signal but lost control of the flames).
::sighs::
It is a shame that people would actually do these kind of thing eh? At least now there are fewer fires now..Be safe all!
