Title: Ghosts
Description: Do you believe?
Mikage-san - September 10, 2003 03:11 PM (GMT)
I had debated putting this in the serious off-topic forum, but decided on this for the main fact that ghosts are serious to some, but to others... not.
What do you feel about ghosts? Do you think it's all a crock? Does your family have its own ghost? Do they scare you?
I have several ghost stories, though having not seen one face-to-face yet, I have been shoved around and knocked over three times total in my life.
My grandmother has a house ghost that moved with her and has "attacked" my aunt due to her rudeness to the ghost. My grandmother also has a "cat ghost" that comes to comfort you when you're upset. More than one family member has seen and pet it. When I go to stay up at my grandmother's when my grandfather goes hunting weekends, I'll try and find it. xD;;;
So anyway... before I go into any indepth detail to my stories, will anyone else have anything to share? Or, at least listen, I suppose. ^_^

well i don't really have a set in stone opinion about ghosts, but i don't go around pointing and laughing at people who've seen them, either. i had what you might call a ghostly encounter at a family member's house when i was younger. we were visiting my aunt's house, and her parents had died upstairs. she never let us go up there, and she barely ever went up there herself. well i was right at the bottom of the stairs, sitting on the ground and watching tv, when i felt a cold draft. i knew that all the windows and such upstairs were closed because no one was up there, but i didn't think anything of it. everyone else was over in the kitchen and my mom called me for lunch, and right before i got up, someone put their hand on my shoulder. i thought my mom had come into the room for me, so i watched tv for another minute while the hand rested there. but when i turned around... no one there. my mom came in a minute later to get me, but i never said anything about it. wierd, neh?

Hmm. :3 I don't not believe in them, but I've never had any personal encounters like that. I like watching those kind of specials and stuff on TV though. x_x;

xD Man... now I feel like the odd one out.
I still stand by it, though... I had much the same feeling as Seaira described once... the coldness that sweeps through you.
I've been shoved while getting ready to settle down for sleep once. I wasn't anywhere near being asleep... I was only at the stage where you wrap your blankets around you to find what's most comfortable when someone grabbed my shoulders, pulled back on them, then shoved them forward again. 9_9.
I really, really want to test my grandmother's house out, though. She has supposedly come home from picking up groceries and there will be ghosts sitting and socializing on her living room furniture, but scatter as soon as they see she's home.
Anyway... ^^;

Yup! I believe in ghosts and spirits. I have many ghost stories. I've seen several ghosts in my life. And I firmly believe that you can say I'm lying but I know what I saw and felt.
We have a family ghost - one that travels with you from house to house. I've seen her many times and she frequently does little things for me. Like I can't find my car keys and I beat a counter because I'm frustrated. Then I go looking again and wind up back at the counter with my keys sitting in the middle.
Anyway, one day I was watching tv. My mom came home and started asking me about my day. I was preoccupied with the show and never turned around. I just answered her questions. Minutes later, I hear my mom call from the kitchen and ask me who I was talking to. After I explained, she thought that our family ghost must be my great grandmother who died a month before I was born. She's been looking over me. She even followed me when I moved out on my own and "lives" with me to this day.
My mom believes in ghosts. She said she saw them when she was younger but not anymore. She figured I'd grow out of it. Well, I haven't. When a ghost is around, I suddenly become very cold and scared - even with my family ghost.
I could bore or scare you with other stories but I'll save them for later. :ph43r:

Tell me more!! ^_^
My family's "family ghost", or my grandmother's ghost anyway... she moved houses because of her rocking chair. We call her Lady, and when she's seen she just silently rocks in the chair.
My aunt wanted to rock my (at the time baby) cousin and my mother said, "You'd better ask permission first, just incase..." and my aunt scoffed at the idea and sat down anyway saying Lady couldn't do anything about it.
My aunt then got her butt burned, really. ^_~ She has not disrespected her since.

Well try not to get too scared. :rolleyes:
It doesn't matter if they're friendly or not. Ghosts terrify me. A friend who lives in Cincy came to visit me and went we to Stone Mountain. We were exploring the little town when she called over to me and I refused to go. She asked what was wrong. I told her there was a little boy cowering in the corner afraid of what she might do to him. She looked and said she couldn't see anyone. I just looked at her until she realized, apologized to the boy and walked away. She too is a firm believer.
Good luck to you, I guess, in seeing your first ghost.

I felt a ghost before. My back was hot and I heard a weird sound in my ear and my back burning up like fire. After the sound suddenly disappeared I just laid there on my side frozen for five-ten minutes. I fear Ghosts, but I do not believe them. Because what my family had told me that if you believe them you can see them. I also had stories from my relatives that they encountered an actual ghost before. It's terrifying. I also heard screams, groans, creaking doors but it all came from my older brother's room. And he WASN'T EVEN HOME!!!! It was freaky, and try really hard not to think about it.

Alright, Mikage-san, did you see any ghosts? Did you experience anything?

I'll letcha know if I see anything directly... ^_^ It made me reaaaally anxious the first night... :wacko: I hadn't sweated that much in a long time. :wacko:
