Title: Harry Potter

duotrouble - September 8, 2003 08:17 PM (GMT)
Who here is in to Harry Potter? And for that matter, how crazy are you about it?

A friend of mine wanted to go see HP and the Sorcerer's Stone when it came out. It looked cute. We went and loved it. She ran out and bought the book. After she finshed it, she gave it to me. Well then HP and the Chamber of Secrets came out. We went to see that because we liked the first one so much. And once again, we loved it, she bought the book and loaned it to me.

Without wasting time, she ran out and bought the 3rd and 4th books. They're sitting on my bookshelf waiting for me to read them. I had to prioritize them with other things I'm reading now. And since then, she's run out bought the 5th book but refuses to let me have it until I finish the others. Gee! People can be so mean!

Well, I've bought both of the DVDs and can't wait until the next movie comes out in February.

I really liked the movies but have these desease
which makes my uncapable of reading any book
that has no pictures or is longer than 50 pages.

I'm just to lazy and a book with that many pages just
really terrifies me.

I know they say the books are better but I guess I'll never know
for sure.

konichiwa!~

my first post on this ayashi no ceres forum, and it's about harry potter ~^-^~. anyways, i definately advise anyone who's only seen the movies to read the books, you're missing so much! i mean, the movies have been awesome in that they're following the storyline, have great actors, awesome special effects and top notch cg portrayal, but they really downplay character development in the movies. in the books you get more involved with the characters, feel the way they feel about each other and such. it's there in the movies, it just could have come out more...

anyway, who's your favorite character? i know this is odd, but i like snape the best ^_^. i have a tendancy to go for small, frightened creatures, so naturally i feel bad for him.

Funny you should make this topic, Duo!

I've been really into Harry Potter for the past... well, it's been about a year, actually. I avoided it like the plague at first, but I got sucked in. Far, far, faaaaar in.

I've actually been on my bed reading more of the Fire Goblet, and took a break to check e-mail and such. I've been re-reading the whole series.

I love all the characters. Each and every one of them (though some are a bit... frustrating) has such depth to them. I only hope Rowling can reveal even more about them in the later books!

I have turned into a rather big Snape fan after reading the 5th book. I won't say why for those who haven't read it, but... Occlumancy Lessons... *¬*

Anyway... Harry Potter = I could go on about it for hours, but I won't bore you guys. xD

Glad you enjoyed! Sorry if I took your creativity away.

Anyway, I love all the characters. Of course, Harry is my fav. But remember I've only read the first two books. I can't wait to get into the 3rd. But I'm trying to be good and finish Two Towers first since it's also borrowed.

I like harrypotter! I've read all 5 books:P but anyways...my favourite characters are everybody! I can't decide!!! But I like the Tom Felton who plays Malfoy in HP! He looks so cute in the 2nd movie! I really wonder How JK Rowling can think up all these ideas! I wonder what's going to happen in the 6th book...

Mikage-san - September 10, 2003 03:00 PM (GMT)
Most of Rowling's ideas came from her own mind, of course... but a lot of things she also took from real life and added her own touch to. ^_^

For instance, Nicholas Flamel, from the first book... he was the creator of the Sorcerer's Stone, right? For those who forgot or don't know, the Sorcerer's Stone is a powerful substance that can give the holder basically whatever it wants... riches, fame, and most importantly, eternal life.

Well, Flamel was also a real man from history who did the same thing, or so he said. He said he had only managed to get a little bit of gold from his stone, and eventually... his wife "died", and then ten years or so later, he "died".

When their graves had been dug up... no bodies! So it's rumored they didn't die at all, but used the stone's power for eternal life. ^_^

that's interesting, i never heard about flamel other than in the potter books. i read in a magazine interview that came out right before the order of the phoenix book that rowling came up with the main idea for harry potter and all of the house names while riding on a train, and she wrote them down on a barf bag. wish i had inspiration like that when i'm riding in the car...

eep! sorry to crash the party, but i like reading realistic books, and things that happen to normal people...books about stuff like magic and what not don't interest me in the least bit. i saw part of the movie and it wasn't bad but reading it was uninteresting for me.

duotrouble - September 12, 2003 03:07 AM (GMT)
It's ok snortstah. It's not for everyone.

Anyway, cool Mikage-san. I didn't know about NF and the stone either. While I like the movies and the books, I haven't gotten into all the interviews, etc. So I'm sure there's lots of interesting info I'm missing out on.

Ah yes! Bringing an old topic back to life.

Well, I remembered us having a thread about Harry Potter. And since I only have one thing to add, I didn't want to start a new thread. Who knows?! Maybe some of the newer members haven't read this and want to join in.

Anyway, just wanted to say I've finished book 3!!! I'm catching up with everyone. It's going to make a great movie. Too bad we have to wait until June 4th. At least they finally settled on that date.

No! No! I would be wrong for saying that. You're closer to his age so it's ok. We won't tell.

And instead of finishing everything up for the holidays, I jumped into book 4. Please don't say anything yet. I'm only three chapters in.
