Title: Your first final fantasy story!
Canitoch - June 30, 2004 05:30 AM (GMT)
You jus tell us what your first final fantasy was! But with..the story how you got it! *gasp*
It was my oldest brother's birthday soon, and my other brother was bugging him 24/7 to get Final Fantasy VII.
"NICK GET FFVII! I HEARD IT WAS REALLY GOOD!"
"SHUT UP TOM!"
XD
SO we went to Best Buy, and got FFVII! woo! I never played it, cause I thought it would be too hard for someone my age..>.> So one day after dinner, I asked my brother if I could play his game, he saved at Gold Saucer and it looked like something not hard. Then..I grew into the game! ^^ I believe that was around the time i went to my first fourm too! :P
edit: good times...gooood times! XD

lol, that was pretty funny!
My breathtaking, Oscar-deserving story!
I'm 8 years old, in Target, 40 dollars in hand. I'm with my Cousin, Cyril (Tokyo teacher cousin BM). He says, "Wanna buy a SNES game?", I'm all "K". He points Final Fantasy III (AKA VI) out and says, "Ooh, EGM says this game was really cool, even better than II (AKA IV)", and I'm all "K". So I buy it, get home, watch Cyril play for a while, then I take over, roughly around the Kolts/Vargas point. Oh snap, this game is awesome. I can remember the Opera scene being one of the neatest moments I ever saw in a game (Hey, I was 8)
Final Fantasy VI, YAY!

My story is rather tragic...and you'll soon find out why:
The first time I got my paws on an FF game was when I was maybe 6 or 7. I borrowed it from my brother's friend John Matthew and got really hooked on it. It was really fun and different from the games I was used to playing. I didn't have it very long, and my memory is very vague on it now..and I wish I could play it again.
Only problem is, I was so young, I don't know which one it was!
I can remember it being in a castle, and that's about it. It was a SNES title, and wasn't III/VI, so it's most likely II/IV..but I've never been able to find out, 'cause I haven't played it since!
So tragic.. ;_;

Aw, poor Katrak. *huggles* Here's mine:
I had seen Final Fantasy a couple times before at my older cousin's house. He had shown me some random points in FFVIII and FFVII. I do remember one distinct point in FFVII that he showed me: Cloud's flashback to when he was fighting alongside Sephiroth. I thought it was really cool (I also thought Sephy was a girl XD)
Anyway, the Christmas where the PS2 came out rolled along. I really wanted a PS2, but realized there would be no chance of me getting one because of the shortages around. (Any of you all remember that? XD) So I asked for a PS1 instead (I was purely a Nintendo console owner before that point). Anyway, while looking for games to ask for (mostly spyro titles because I spent hours at my friend's house playing her copies), I saw an ad for FFIX. Well, remembering seeing the older ones at my cousin's, I decided to ask for that. So on Christmas, I got my PS1 and FFIX, then ran upstairs to play it in my room. I fell in love with the game, and played it straight through up past the Forbidden Forest without a break. Since then I've been hooked on FFIX and rpgs in general. ^_^ Yes, I am an FF freak.

I also remember getting FFVIII. I came home, and my dad bought it for Nick..so I was all like oooo! So we loaded the game on my brothers computar that died on us years later, and we had the most difficult trouble getting the opening scene to work cause it was all jamming and stuff. SO we were all like "ARGHE!!" and then it finaly worked! ^^
FFIX: I barely remember getting that..I just remember Nick was at his friend's house and he told be about the scences with Oden and stuff.
edit: threepwood! NOO GET ME TICKET! ;_;

Might as well change the name to the "Final Fantasy Memories" thread! xD
I'm just gonna name all my memories of games from a while back.
FFVII is the first game I played all the way through...and after 31 hours straight of playing it because the plot got so good, it was safe to say I fell in love with it. That was around 5th grade..so I suppose I was 11 or 12..
FFTactics, I had around the same time FFVII. It was rather confusing for young KT, but after going through the tutorial various times, and trial and error through Dorter Trade City, I strived through roughly 60 hours of complex game play over the course of a year...That game took a while to get used to.
FFVIII, I rented at blockbuster around 7th grade..and I got up to the point of where Rinoa gets locked in the house by her dad, but snuck out to Edea..and during those cut scenes, the disc froze..and I eventually had to turn it back in. About a year later, I finally bought the game and continued on my file! Yay.
FFIX, I got shortly after FFX came out. (As you can tell, I got FFIX rather late :P) I was amazed at the graphics of this game when I got it..and my brother noted that Dagger looked hot. x.x;; But umm..I fell in love with this game as well. It's prolly the reason why I got bad grades at the beginning of my 8th grade year. Haha
FFX I got for Christmas two years ago, along with my first PS2 ^-^ Graphics once again amazed me, and shocked me when I heard the heavy metal sound of "Otherworld" during the first Blitzball match. Awesome stuff.
All of my other FF games I got recently..so they really don't count much as memories for being recent ^_^

FFX: My brother got it for his birthday, not much of a memory there..>.> *loves my memory of ffvii*

Hmm.. My first ever was FFVI. I was dumpster diving somewhere and I found it. Tee-hee.
The first one that I actually played through was FFVIII though. I think I rented it at Blockbuster and then copied it, realized the second disc didn't work and bought it at wal*mart.

Who would throw away that masterpiece of a game!?
Kefka equals better than Sephy
Canitoch - June 30, 2004 11:14 PM (GMT)
I thought Kefka was a corny villain, and scurry since he looks like a clown. I got ffvi when my brother bought it for me..stoped playing it...got stuck when I had to protect this esper. XD
Threepwood - June 30, 2004 11:27 PM (GMT)
Corny? He's the toughest end fight in FF history!

Some old lady, lol. We saw her bringing the garbage out. Don't know why she'd have SNES games, but whatever.
Besides... I've never played FFVII.
Kefka was indeed a tough battle... he did look a bit ridiculous though. I wonder how many times I can use the word ridiculous today. How ridiculous.

Hmm, now I'm going to have to talk about the others.
FFVIII- Christmas after I was introduced to the series, my lil brother got the game. (My only FF that is a greatest hits title). He's never really played it, but I love it.
FFVII- Saw a used copy at Gamestop and bought it to see what all the hype is about. I promise I will finally finish it this summer! (But I just hate materia so much!)
FFX- Got that with my PS2 for eighth grade graduation. It was the only PS2 game I got, and I adored it. ^_^
FFIV- Got FFChronicles for a birthday present last year, so there you go.
FFV, FFVI- Lil bro wanted the FFAnthology collection for a birthday one year, so he got it. I lost the cd that came with it though. -_-
FFTactics- Tried it, but could never get past the first level. I may purchase a copy again eventually, but don't know.
FFTactics Advanced- It got so many good reviews, I asked for it for Christmas. Lil brothers rule, for they bought it for me. This is now my 'game to waste many hours in while traveling in the car' game.
FFX-2- Just this past Christmas. *drools over Gippal*
