Teh British beating up on Iraq Protesters.

Is it alright for the army to beat up on Iraquis during "a time of war" or is it actually complete wrong and should for no reason be done? =p I guess it all really matters if these certain people were leaders or perhaps killed a soldier and they were just pissed at those or maybe they were just random people. The camera man seems kind of odd to tape it knowing there was a great chance that the media was going to get a hold of it. Then again, maybe he didn't think that for some reason.

I don't care what their motives are, unless civilians pose a direct threat to them, soldiers shouldn't be messing with them. My dad says when he was in the military (US, but I would expect that Britain would be similar), they were taught not to let their emotions govern their actions. I mean, yes, you're going to see friends die and such, but you can't just take it out on anyone who crosses your path. There are still certain rules to be followed, one of which is that you don't abuse your power by beating people who are not a threat to you. I hope these idiots get SEVERELY punished/fined/jailed/whatever for their actions.

The fact that those were civilians bothers me. You can't just think that being in the military gives you the right to beat on people. Especially people who pose no immediate danger to yourself or your comrades. If they had been like...walking around suspicously with guns and bombs strapped to their backs, that would have been a different story.

The person who filmed the darn tape was either really stupid or really smart. I can't imagine that he would tape that scene with no knowledge of what would happen to it after the media got hold of it. Then again, it is important for the public to know that this is happening. I s'pose its like a double edged sword. [shrug]
