God of War, is one of the most hailed games of this year and the year has only begun.

This game is a hack and slash but better then most. With stunning graphics, great sound and in depth game play it is definetly a good contender for game of the year. Let's observe this game more closely.

Graphics: Wow, simply amazing. Cutscenes and gameplay alike have stunning visuals, great colors and exotic feel. Greek mythology never looked so good as the playstation 2's engine runs this game quite fairly. I know a lot of people have been saying it'd look better on XCrap but I say this is the best damn visual game on PS2 or XBox to date.

Sound: Music and voice overs are very good in this game. The music really runs fluidly with the battles and does a great job of making action that much more fun. The voices are great if you can like the whole brooding hero and informative gods dialouge.

Design: Amazing, Levels are done so well in this game and the battle system is fairly in-depth for a hack and slash. Though pushing square or triangle alot would get the job done the game gives you alot of combos to work with to keep things intresting. And just so everything's not mere push of one button, most monsters can't be killed until you string together a succesful combo that appears on the screen. Everything thing in this game looks and runs smoothly, the only problem I can really say annoys me slightly is that like most games, this one has the dreaded invisble wall in place on some objects that your character should be able to jump on or over. However glad I am for it when it comes to some cliffs, it's just annoying when you can jump over the handrail to get on the stairs.

Camera: The camera angles in this game are fairly decent. When Kratos is moving it does and over the shoulder view and when combat usually arrives it zooms back and lets most of the area be seen in the shot. Kind of like the Castlevania Lament of Innocence camera system (Hey, I liked it).

Controls: The control setup is great, it's easy to use and allows for good gameplay.

Game itself: Eh, yeah. This game has an M rating for a reason. Any man should enjoy this game as it has the two things men care about. Violence, and women's exposed breast. That's right guy's, there is boobs in this game so don't go getting too excited.

Personal Rating: 9.0/10
