I was gonna chuck this in spam, then realised i actually had a gaming topic.

http://www.gamefaqs.com

Check out what's second on the top 10 faqs :)

I find it funny that just after AC comes out, everyone who hasn't played FF7 either ever or in 5 or so years rushes back to play it again so they can understand what they just saw in the movie and be cool. Buuuuuut they can't do it without a guide of course. Very amusing.

Point of topic, what epic games did you use a guide for and why?

Mine:

Legend of Zelda; Ocarina of Time: Skulltulas and Heart Pieces...would've taken years to find without a guide.

Legend of Mana: Yes i used a guide for my favourite game but only cause i couldn't find all those damned Special Techniques. And i kept failing this quest.

Final Fantasy 9: Chocobo Quest, those bubbles and cracks. I got a map for them lol. And i also had a card guide.

Final Fantasy 10: Oooo i used a lot here. One for the celestial weapons, one for the overdrives, one for the aeons, one for the game itself from about the red rose cutscene and one for the monster capture thingy.

Final Fantasy 8: I used the guide to get me through the missile base cause i kept failing it lol. Also when i was a n00b at cards i used one for that. And also one for ultimecia's castle.

All those were for first time play-throughs, just parts i got completely stuck on. For the record, the only guide i used for FF7 was for the stupid enemy skills :P Couldn't find them. The sage gave me enough tips to do the chocobo quest, dunno why anyone needs a guide for that when the game gives you all the tips you need. I'll put more when i remember the reasons.

Woah...I got a few...lets see...

Metal Gear Solid 2: I cant remember what for but I needed one...XD

MGS3: I used a guide to find all the Kerotan Frogs...I have all the praise in the world for whoever found them all first time...plus I also needed it to unlock alot of other things as well...

GTA VC: Hidden Packages...Rampages...Unique Jumps...etc...

San Andreas: While I was still playing it...most of the same things as VC...

FFX: Well...I havent but my sister has to get some stuff...so Ill prolly end up using those same guides later anyway...XD

FF8: Kie knows all too well about this one...I kinda used a guide all the way through the game...and then I didnt finish it...XP

I cant remember any others at the moment...

lets see

Final Fantasy VII - I want ed to get all the weapons and materia.

Final Fantasy VIII - To get all the cards.

and

Mortal Kombat 3 - Back in the good old days of the Genesis you had to know how to do all the fatalitys.

Oh yeah, Vice City. I borrowed Peter's guides and got every hidden package in 3 hours :P Good times.

Also yeah, mortal kombat 2 and deadly alliance (i used cheats in 3 :P) i used guides. The game itself gives you a link to the fatalities guide so i had to use one there, unless i wanted to guess lol.

hmm back to my newbish days....lesse

Kie gave me his walkthrough to help me through my 1st play of FF7, but being the cocky gamer, i didn't use it.....thus why i failed to get the huge materia off both the Shinra 26 and the Corel train...:(
but i still had fun, and got them on my 2nd play through, :D

Star Fox 64, needed to know all the points for the medals...some of them r impossible to get, (250 on venom 1!!!, theres like 100+ enemies 2 seconds into the lvl and they're gone on the 3rd second!!)

Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, I challenge anyone to find all the challenge points on their 1st play through.

Goldeneye 007, The cheats in that game where impossible if u didn't know the time you needed to complete each lvl (cept craddle, any moron can unlock gold pp7 with a 15min limit)

Zelda Ocarina of Time, the shadow temple just had too many invisible walls...and doors...

Zelda Majora's Mask, not sure if this counts but i was on the phone to kie, throughout the Stone tower temple, i just couldn't figure it out....why upside down??.

Any game that I bought that are still in Japanese. I can't read them so I just download some FAQs to get an idea of what to do and what is happening. >_<

Hmm..well, FFVIII, because somehow I managed to get to Adel at level 18 and I couldn't beat her T_T And I really hated that game's junction system, so I was always looking into tips for that stuff.

FFIX for the chocobo graphs.

FFX for a couple of the Cloister of Trials and ultimate weapons.

Monster Rancher, for monster combo guides.

and various MMORPG's such as Runescape and RO for quest help, and item faqs..etc.

The only time I'll touch the walkthrough faqs is if I can't find where to go/what to do and I start getting pissed off xD And even then, I only search for the part I need. Now using a full walkthrough...never done that. In my opinion, if somebody needs something to walk them through the entire game...they seriously shouldn't be playing the game xD 'cause I mean, technically they're not x_x

Bruce Lee - September 27, 2005 07:19 AM (GMT)
lol yeah i was used as a walkthrough. We were on the ohone for like, 2 hours while George navigated the Stone Tower by my word alone. Crazy! Made me better at it though.

F-Zero GX comes to mind. I needed the guide to get through the Story Mode...too hard. Still is!

I guessed the cloister of trials things on FFX. Took ages but i finally got them all on my own.

Bill Gates - September 27, 2005 09:51 AM (GMT)
x_x Yeah, after I used the faqs, I realized how much I overlooked some of the cloister stuff. The Shiva one started it. I sat there for two hours trying to figure that one out before I caved in. Then after that, I saved the .txt files for the remaining ones, just incase I needed help later on xD

:lame:

Final Fantasy 2. I needed Game Genie Cheats to get the Artemis Bows for Rydia and Rose, Excalibur for Cecil, Masamune and Murasame for Edge, and some Ribbons.
