Title: Compilation of Final Fantasy VII
Description: Discuss them all!
Bill Gates - September 16, 2005 01:42 AM (GMT)
So as many of you are aware, (or at least should be aware of) Final Fantasy VII is having a ton of prequels and sequels coming out.
Advent Children- Movie sequel with Cloud and Tifa as the main characters.
Before Crisis- Cell phone game prequel, focusing on the Shinra Company, mainly the Turks.
Crisis Core- PSP Game prequel, very little details known, but supposed to be focused on Zack.
Dirge of Cerberus- PS2 Game sequel, focusing on Vincent and the W.R.O.
and lastly, Final Fantasy VII: On the Road to a Smile. It's a novelization that just came out maybe a week or two ago on the main FFVII website, that follows Denzel's story toward the middle and end of Final Fantasy VII, and should eventually discuss how he came to live with Cloud and Tifa during the two year gap between FFVII and Advent Children.
o_o Is it just me, or has it become clearly obvious that Final Fantasy VII is Squeenix's favorite game? They're giving us tons of backstory on both the former enemies, ShinRa company, and other minor characters, such as Denzel and Zack, and then they're continuing the storyline of the game's playable characters through two confirmed sequels, one of which has just recently come out.
Imagine the amount of money going into all of this. It's got to be something they've been working for years upon years on passionately(not just the past couple years we waited for AC on), if they're willing to go out and take such a high risk with various platforms and forms to make this compilations, ya know?

They where probably tired of os fanboys asking them for more and they did all of this to shut us up so they can finaly sleep.... but i still want a 2D fighting game....
maybe they well make it sooner or later if start bugging them...
Bill Gates - September 16, 2005 10:49 PM (GMT)
Haha, yeah. That would be fun to have a fight game. Just think of the variety you could get with the characters..and add in some materia...
*drool*
Toushiro Hitsugaya - September 18, 2005 02:57 AM (GMT)
Ehrgeiz 2.... but just with FF characters.... that would be EPIC...
And what ever happens to the other Turks from BC,CC and LO???? do they die, or just quit ShinRa??? Hopefully they will tell us in Crisis Core. I hate plot holes.... they hurt my ankles when I fall into them....
Bill Gates - September 18, 2005 03:21 AM (GMT)
Yeah, there's tons of plot holes so far after Advent Children...they'll have to explain it somewhere along the road.
Toushiro Hitsugaya - September 18, 2005 03:36 AM (GMT)
A road full of plot holes........ I just relized i'm going to have to buy a PSP.... GWAD.... looks like im going to have to get a job agian so i can play Crisis Core when it comes out.... Why can't things be free.....
Bruce Lee - September 18, 2005 04:50 AM (GMT)
Well this thread could've been done on aim up to this point. Anyway i think square-enix did indeed listen to the fan(boy)s and just cater to their desires. I still reckon FF8 was the best and i have many who agree with me (cept maybe Peter who take 8 months to get to the middle of disc 3) and they'd make heaps of money again if they gave more storyline on before/after for that game, it would be awesome. However i'd stop there, cause 9 wasn't that great.
Toushiro Hitsugaya - September 18, 2005 05:28 AM (GMT)
I thought they ended VIII off nicely.... I dont see how they would do a sequel off of it, Maybe a prequel with nothing but Laguna and his life story... that would be cool.

That doesnt mean I didnt like it...just meant I didnt like it as much as other FF's...and stop giving me crap about that whole 8 month thing... <_<
rEaPeR - September 18, 2005 06:05 PM (GMT)
They're just milking FFVII for all it's worth. Although it is ending some confusion of the ending of FFVII and other things, but like said before there are plot holes.
Toushiro Hitsugaya - September 19, 2005 01:47 AM (GMT)
Its true they are milking it dry but im not complaining..... They are finnaly giving us what we want... and doing a fantastic job at it too..
Bill Gates - September 19, 2005 05:43 AM (GMT)
Well, sure there's plot holes, but that's where the other compilations will be coming in. There's at least two novels now, plus the prequels and sequels.
I'm glad they're doing it. ^_^
Bruce Lee - September 19, 2005 06:01 AM (GMT)
I reckon there could be an awesome sequel to FF8. It's not like much has been explained about what happened in the two years following FF7 anyway but apparently cloud didn't fight...so yeah it would prolly be boring. But FF8 could involve a new threat to the planet and Squall teaming up with Laguna and Seifer or something. Would be wicked.
Bill Gates - September 19, 2005 09:57 PM (GMT)
I never liked VIII...took me about a year after getting on the second disc to actually get back into the game and finish it ^^,,, I considered not doing it for a long time...but I did it eventually.
As for more to VIII...the ending was good. I was content with what happened in the end.
However, with VII...I was very let down with the ending. It was left wide open, and left so many things unanswered. Up until a few years ago, I had a couple friends who believed that everyone died at the end of the game except Red XIII o_O I'm glad their giving us all these compilations...gives the 15 million of us that have been wondering for 8 years what happened before and after some closure.
And so far, it's been worth every penny I've put out on merchandise and preorders :3
Toushiro Hitsugaya - September 19, 2005 10:53 PM (GMT)
It was the one ending that spawned a million fanfics....
I want to know what they are puting on the US DVD..... Hopefully they put Last Order on it.
Bill Gates - September 19, 2005 11:12 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm hoping for that as well...but according to 1up, they haven't confirmed it'll be in there or not.
I was hoping they'd have Advent Pieces for the US release...but I doubt that'll happen either.
We better get the novelizations in the compilations though!
Toushiro Hitsugaya - September 19, 2005 11:33 PM (GMT)
Does anyone know who are the people doing the Eng dub???? I havent found that info and you would think people would know by now...
Bill Gates - September 20, 2005 12:30 AM (GMT)
We only have two confirmed names so far, which can be found
here, 'cause one might be considered spoilerific.
In the beginning of August, Nomura said that they had everyone but 3 characters(which he didn't mention which) done, so they're bound to pop up on the internet within the next couple months, I would expect.
Toushiro Hitsugaya - September 28, 2005 06:27 PM (GMT)
hurray... they released the Advent Children OST so now i can DL it.... but im not stealing... im buying the soundtrack anyway... so there...
Styxx - September 29, 2005 10:35 PM (GMT)
i agree with you RPGamer, they should add Last Order on the american DVD. Maybe they could a prequel revolving around Zack you think.
Toushiro Hitsugaya - October 9, 2005 04:48 AM (GMT)
yeah a game where you actually would get to play as Zack would be sweet.... Im hoping that is what Crisis Core is but who knows...
What I think they should have done is a 2000 year prequel.... you know, the story of the Cetra fighting Jenova..... They would get to make brand new characters and really give Jenova Her/Its own personality.... I just would like to see the real Jenova.... She/it would pretty much look like a female version of Sephiroth, right.... i mean that what she/it looked like to me...
