Title: Idea for getting more members

Bill Gates - May 8, 2005 12:20 AM (GMT)
Just thinking of a way to get more members..remember last year when we went crazy clicking our name in the IF Directory and got ourselves to the first page? Well, I got us up to spot 13 earlier, and I figure if we could use a Re-Directed Hits kind of forum thing to the Hits, we might be able to attract some more people here. If each person gives us a click a day, that would be good! ^_^

Also, our forum description looks kinda dull...I think if we want more members, we're gonna have to start up our Gardens again (I mean, that IS what AT was all about back in the day...our Gardens) then we could have something interesting to put in the description. "Home of Ground Zero and Elsion Gardens!" or something along those lines would attract more people than "Nice Role Playing and general board with a great and friendly community. All welcome!" if you ask me...no offense to the one who put the current description...

So I guess to sum it all up, we need a way to get hits, and a way to keep members. Even if nobody wants to have Ground Zero or Elsion, we could always find volunteer Headmasters for new Gardens, ya know? ^_^

Tell me what you think.

Katie..wasn't that the same idea you gave me crap about when i posted when we were almost #1, you even said that posting a thread about it so people would see it was wrong, why the change?

Bill Gates - May 8, 2005 04:24 AM (GMT)
My idea is different. While yes, it is pretty much the same approach, it's not like I'm saying "HEY! CLICK THIS LINK A GAZILLION TIMES SO WE CAN CHEAT AND GET MORE HITS! WE'VE BEEN DOING IT ALL DAY!" Which is pretty much what you had said before. Not exactly, but pretty much the same idea.

I'm just saying a click a day from each members. It's no different than buttons/banners that other people use on their sites :P Kinda a "Vote for AT" idea XD Which basically works also, because if we think AT deserves to go to the top rather than whatever it is that's up there right now, then we should give AT hits eachday and make it happen.

I'm just suggesting it...it's up to teh admins in the end.

I'll help out,I'm on like 4 other forums,I'll post some advertisements for us.

Shawn Michaels - May 9, 2005 08:49 PM (GMT)
I think we should just not have garden, it was great back in the day, but it's never going to come back. Get a different description that's honest. ^_^

Young people that don't only talk about videogames but are very close to eachother! Join the community to be part of the family! =) We have romance drama! =o

Metal Sonic - May 10, 2005 12:20 AM (GMT)
I can advertise easily, I know some ppl that know some ppl that know some ppl. B)

Bill Gates - May 10, 2005 06:09 AM (GMT)
Which one of you silly admins changed the description to "COME TO ANGELTIDE NOW!!!" ?

That truly made me laugh out loud. ^^,

Is that really a sensible question...I mean COME ON!!! Just think about it for a second...who do you really think would change it...I mean there are a number of reasons why this should be as clear as water in a transperant bucket thats been coated in a colourless paint...

1. There is 1 active admin here...
2. That 1 active admin has an awesome sense of humour
3. That admin is currently typing this message...

1. Getting ourselves on more message board lists. The more diffused we are around the Internet, the more likely people will see us, the more people that join. You catch my drift. B)

2. Word-of-mouth. That's essentially what this whole thing boils down to. Credibility just doesn't get any better than from the members themselves. Why let others talk for us when we can talk ourselves? If more people can be made known of Angel Tide by the members themselves, they're more likely to join up. That's what I've done once or twice before, and believe me: it works. Very, very well.

I liked that idea :)

I think we should just do what we did last time, not the mass click thing, the bookmark thing.

For those who don't know, invisionfree.com has a list of all forums, a forum directory if you will (that's what they call it :P) and it is categorised into sections such as Gaming and Sports etc... AT is located in the RPG section and we're currently sitting on the first page at #16. The numbers are ordered by amount of hits. Clicking on the Angel Tide link at invisionfree adds a hit to the counter. Now what we did last time was, well i suggested the idea of a mass clicking session where the fast connections just keep clicking, but i also suggested that everyone edit their bookmarks. If you haven't bookmarked AT by now, you must like typing invisionfree.com/forums/angeltide/index.php (or you just have it in the history or showing up when you type 2 letters) but at any rate, bookmark AT first and then go to the bookmark itself, right click on it and go to properties. You'll see that you can edit the link. This is the trick, just delete that link and replace it with http://invisionfree.com/directory.php?go=30625 and apply. Now every time you click the bookmark you'll add a count to the hits!

And change that stupid caps locked description for AT, makes us look like a bunch of n00bs. ^^

The problem doesn't lie in advertising. It's the people. Nothing's interesting anymore. If the oldbies can't even have decent posts then what will make the new crowd you're trying to obtain stay?

Well you're not helping any...

She does have a point though. We're all oldbie-ish and boring o.O;;

Bruce Lee - May 31, 2005 10:55 AM (GMT)
I believe it is part of the staff's commitment to the site to come up with new ideas of attracting members. Perhaps a proper and professional yet simple RP would help. Maybe of something new and that people will all like.

Kiefer Sutherland - June 1, 2005 02:26 AM (GMT)
Well, I have 3 weeks of holidays coming up in 3 weeks so if I remember, then Ill put something together...Ill need ideas though...I mean I havent rp'd in yonks so I think I'll need a bit of help...

Bill Gates - June 15, 2005 12:49 AM (GMT)
You seriously gotta change the board description x.x I've noticed a decline in newbies.

Honestly, if I were to see that description, I'd laugh and keep scrolling >.>

Bruce Lee - June 15, 2005 01:07 AM (GMT)
So would i >=/ It's not hard to do, it's in one of the first options.

Bill Gates - June 15, 2005 02:33 AM (GMT)
Lazy admins >.>

Quigz - July 4, 2005 05:34 AM (GMT)

thatstoodamnbad - July 6, 2005 04:25 AM (GMT)
One thing we could do is send a mass email to current members. This message would have two results:
1-Deliquent members will return
2-AT, with any luck, will be spread to new faces by current members' return.

Bruce Lee - July 7, 2005 03:21 AM (GMT)
Job for the admins. Enjoy!

Bill Gates - July 9, 2005 12:22 AM (GMT)
Yet another job that can't be forwarded to me by Peter! Tee hee ^___^

It could work though, if Peter wasn't lazy, or Jilly and Vion were around to do it ^^,,

Metal Sonic - July 16, 2005 04:19 PM (GMT)
I might be able to do it...

Kiefer Sutherland - July 25, 2005 10:58 AM (GMT)
Ok...seems you people insist on calling me lazy (well I am...) but its time for me to do some things about that it I think...

As of the moment, I have nothing on this weekend, so I will write down everything I would LIKE to do and will endevour to complete them...although, no one bothered to suggest any ideas for an RPG, which I asked for before my holidays...so thats not my fault...

Bruce Lee - August 14, 2005 12:47 AM (GMT)
As an update...we're slipping off the first page of forum listings quite quickly...i think a clicking session is in order.

Metal Sonic - August 27, 2005 02:27 AM (GMT)
2 words...Hot Coffee. If we offer the codes for members with 100+ posts, we can get tons of members. Maybe most of em will stay. With all the controversey surrounding it, and sources dwindling to a handfull, we will have near-exclusive access to it. Maybe we will be in the news for it or something, too. :D
