Title: favorite type of game

Treya - February 9, 2005 04:23 PM (GMT)
Me have to say...racing games. They usually have some form of crashing, bashing, and occasionally shooting envolved in them. Also its fun to test to see how well you can make turns.

Koya Muraki - February 9, 2005 07:10 PM (GMT)
Fighting games, or at least games the involve fighting. I love to smash and bash things.

Archangel of Death - February 9, 2005 07:20 PM (GMT)
Real time strategy games. Yes you need to make it a seperate category, there are also turned bases strategy games...

Treya - February 9, 2005 07:51 PM (GMT)
Well deary thats what the "other" option was for.... <_< I couldn't think of others at the time.

Shawn Michaels - February 9, 2005 07:56 PM (GMT)
I like RPG's...Is that strategy?

Treya - February 9, 2005 08:00 PM (GMT)
Close enough I guess. I guess I should have put that one up...oh well.

Bill Gates - February 9, 2005 09:34 PM (GMT)
It's called game genre, not type..and you have barely any genres on there x.x

*goes off and fixes poll*

For me, RPG all the way. *huggles FFVII* Though I also have expertise in Fighting and Music, RPG's are my favorite, and are the majority of what I own in my gaming archives.

Archangel of Death - February 9, 2005 09:53 PM (GMT)
Mine is totally dominated by RTS's, a few racing, FPS and flight sim games mixed in, and (what category do Mechwarrior games fall into?). MMORPG's may start taking over though... My next addition to the collection is going to be the MMORPGSORTA Guild Wars (I wouldn't know, but its said its not quite an MMORPG, like Diablo 2).

lordtnt - February 9, 2005 10:02 PM (GMT)
rpgs rule

PieaholicX - February 9, 2005 10:28 PM (GMT)
MMORPGs all the way!

Sanosuke - February 9, 2005 10:49 PM (GMT)
I'll have to say FPS, and RPG's.

Treya - February 10, 2005 12:22 AM (GMT)
O.k. now that I've seen the other choices...

I'd say real time strategy I guess. Those games are pretty cool sometimes.

(thanks Kt as I said, couldn't think of others. Since when is music a game genre?)

Kiefer Sutherland - February 10, 2005 02:40 AM (GMT)
Dance Dance Revolution, DJ Mixer thingy, and stuff like that are part of the music genre...although, those are all crappy games anyway so yeah I'd tend to agree with you there treya...

I on the other hand like SPORTS!!! SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS!!! In particular, any AFL games, although they are usually pretty shoddy unfortunately...but soccer games are the ones I tend to play most...however, any sports games are good...I also like racing...especially burnout 3!

chaos - February 10, 2005 02:45 PM (GMT)
I love my wrestling games and rpg's. Wrestling games are da bomb. I love creating characters and kicking ass!

I take offense to you calling music games "crap" Peter. I happen to be an avid Bemani game player, and I would appreciate it if you would keep your negative comments about them to yourself. >:P

No offense...but quite frankly, my opinion of these kinds of games is that they are crap...ok...I dont care if you like these games...hell, go for your life...thats your privelage...but let me have my opinions as well...ok?
You're so mean T_T

As for Treya's question...How else would you classify these games other than in a music genre?

The music genre includes game such as Dance Dance Revolution in which you dance, Drum Mania/Taiko Drum Master/Donkey Konga in which you drum, Guitar Freaks is self explanatory, Karaoke Revolution for singing, and even Mad Maestro where you're an orchestra conductor.

If you wanna be nit picky, call it a Sim, but it's ALL about the music in these games...therefore, Music genre; a genre of it's own. ^^

Batman - February 11, 2005 02:51 AM (GMT)
I agree with u Katrak, if a game focuses on the music aspect then it belongs to the music genre. as for me though, i'm an RPG fantatic, currently torn between RPG's and MMORPG's, but RPG's still have a strong hold on me.

Toushiro Hitsugaya - November 28, 2005 12:00 AM (GMT)
RPGs all the way.... but i do love fighting, music, and action games

Jack Thompson - November 28, 2005 12:08 AM (GMT)
RTS's first, then Action/Adventure (Technically, these should probably be two different categories. Most action games have some adventure aspects, but there are a lot of adventure games, like MYST, with very little action.) And then the others I'll just take what I can get. I do have a bit of a soft spot for RPG's, but that has more to do with the storylines of individual games, and not the fact that it IS an RPG.

Xen si - November 30, 2005 05:54 PM (GMT)
Wow.. really old poll made by my sister who never posts here anymore.. and I never voted.. I'm going with Other. CORPG (Cooporative Online RPG), i.e. Guild Wars.. only game of it's genre.

Triton_DeBloom - November 30, 2005 06:17 PM (GMT)
As much as I like most everything i'm going to have to go with my personal age old favorite. First Person Shooters. From duck hunt to battlefield 2, bullets will fly.

Bruce Lee - December 1, 2005 02:49 AM (GMT)
My fave genre has always been action/adventure and i seem to be alone here :P

The oddworld games were awesome, as is sonic, ninja gaiden, tombi, as a matter of fact, action/adventure is very general as platformers and RPGs can be considered as 'adventures' so i'm just keeping it general :)

Aoshi Shinomori - December 1, 2005 02:53 AM (GMT)
I'll stick with my RPG's >.>

Bill Gates - December 1, 2005 03:17 AM (GMT)
Thread revival again? xD

I'll have to change my stance from RPG, to Music genre. That's all I really play anymore. There's just nothing else out there that I really want to play, RPG or not. 'tis all about the Music games now for me.

Aoshi Shinomori - December 1, 2005 05:26 AM (GMT)
What about Xenosagas and Dragon Quest and Radiata Stories come on ; ; Our genre hasn't died yet Katie!!!!

Bill Gates - December 1, 2005 06:44 AM (GMT)
Well, maybe I'll revert after my birthday and Christmas; when I actually have money in my pockets to buy new stuff.

I don't want our genre to die, but but....I CAN'T HELP IT T____T

Toushiro Hitsugaya - December 1, 2005 12:19 PM (GMT)
Radiata Stories tis a fun game..... RPGs are alive and well.....
