in my opinion i like public schools i dont think i could servive in a private school and made to wear a suit all the time it would drive me insane, but i dont think i would be to good being home schooled , i would probibly drive my mom insaine, and i would be sent to a public school, but that's only my opinion

Hmm, i went to public school. Private school wouldn`t be able to handle me, i would not wear a uniform or let a teacher hit me.... i`d hit back. Asides from my feeling this is what i believe.

Public schools are the best. You get to interact as a normal humanbeing would. No bullcrap rules to obide by. Freedom of expression (clothing, piercings, so fourth)

i never went to a private school but i hear crap. So if i say something wrong.... well i dont know what im talking about.
Private schools do have a nice thing.... uniforms.... i wouldnt wear one, but it does eliminate the problem from classifying people into groups. Thats the only thing i could say nice about it. I hear they can hit you in a private school..... i wouldnt let that happen, i have too much pride than to deal with that.

Home schools could be nice, only problem is a lot of colleges dont accept all home school students (from what i heard).

I would like to heard more about this from people who actually go to home and private schools.

well, I go to a private school, a VERY leniant one... no suits no no dress code, people have half a brain....and well I'M TRYING TO CHANGE SCHOOLS ANYWAYS, but my govt. teacher has issues with that!!!!! GAH, alright I'm ok....today he was REALLY nice, but umm, yeah, I'm actually trying to go to a public school, but it's Fine Arts school...so it's different.....but I don't know, I couldn't be home schooled, I hate home SOOO much.....really I do...

damian - January 25, 2005 10:02 PM (GMT)
well my cousins are home schooled but from what i hear they are not doing to good and they hate it, and i think in only a few private schools they hit you, but i wouldent know i have only been to a public school

Jadestone - January 25, 2005 10:40 PM (GMT)
Public schools with advanced centers would be the best. I went to a public school and i was a part of "The Center Of the Arts" which when i went to school was hard as hell to get into; so when i got in it was something to be proud of.... but now anyone can get in. which pissed me off.... enough about my life. I would definitly say public schools with centers are a bonus; they can expose you to all kinds of ideas you never would have had.

Home schools... well i feel that if your home school you dont get the interaction you need between others; which is an essential part of growing up.

I just forgot to add these in my old post :o

Oh yes that teacher that you liked so much.

I've been homeschooled all my life so really I don't know what the other ones are like. My cousin tells me I wouldn't survive in public school and she's probably right ^_^

that's way you're so fricken crazy....and yes....that one *sigh*, oh well as I was saying, if you go to a place like The Altamont...not religious extremely leniant to dress code no nothin! great fun, but not for me! everyone else loves it....

Oh I love being on a private school. You can't hit people there. They'd get a huge lawsuit for that. Sheesh, what age do we live in if we allow that still? Haven't they heard of positive reinforcement? O_o

Private school kept me sheltered. I liked that. And besides, public schools are horrible from where I'm from. ;)

Im guessing there are still a few people (eg. me) who would like to know where exactly that is...

But anyway, there are definately several classes of schools where I live...some public schools are really good...some crap...same with privat schools...but the private school can chuck all the rules they want at kids...cause they get a bucket of money from the parents...they're getting what they want...and giving the parents that send them there what they want as well...thats how I see it anyway...

(@ Elza: Sounds like L.A. lol or at least what I've heard from my cousins.)

I think Private schools are probably the next best thing from home. My four oldest siblings went to a private school. Not me though...and that's probably why I don't like leaving the house much.

my only thihg is.......... If you`re home schooled, not so much private schooled, you tend to live in a bubble... you really dont have and idea of how the world functions asides from you normal day to day routine. IE: Treya (not picking on ya) never leaves the house... from the few people i know that are home schooled i see the same thing. I see this as a society bubble; isolating ones self from the normal healthy interactions between strangers. My only concern is, being home schooled the smartest thing to do? I`m sure it has its benifits and i`m sure you could get better grades that way, but i`m more concerned on the mental state. Private schools i guess arent too different from public, atleast the one where i live isn`t. The only thing i can say about that is..... if you want a freak get a girl from a private school, or even better a christian school. hehe, but maybe thats just where i live.

kinda is.

However not all homeschoolers are like me. Joe for instance gets out quite a bit. I just don't like leaving the house cause I'm lazy and like my space.

damian - January 27, 2005 08:49 PM (GMT)
your kinda like me allthoe i go to public school it's just i am too freaking lazy to do much and all my friends know it, and that's another thing that happens when you get home schooled were do you meet new people?

Mr. T - January 28, 2005 12:14 AM (GMT)
As having experiance in both private and public schools, public schools are far more superior (or at least the ones I've been too.) I was in a private Catholic school for my first few grades, and it was very very sheltered. I didn't know anyone at all except the rich kids who went to my school. Thankfully I transferred out because they didn't have an mg program. (Mentally gifted)

So public school was next. It was much more a mixture of students, and there I met my best friends for life (or from 3rd grade until now o.o).

The best of all would probably be my current school which is a magnet public school. (In other words, you can only get in if you apply specially and meet the academic requirements. In this case, pure A's, etc. There are more in Philly, such as CAPA, that are just for the arts.)

It's all a matter of what you're suited for methinks.

At church. Also we do have classes outside of the house. Like at other peoples houses. Take my chemistry class for example. This lady(Mrs. Page) teaches it. We go to her hous and I have quite a few friends there.

answer #2: here, on other forums, and on runescape.

damian - January 28, 2005 10:16 PM (GMT)
ok true, but i mean people in the town/city you live in

Treya - January 29, 2005 12:22 AM (GMT)
Well despite the fact that I'm homeschooled I do know some of the people near where I live. Although most of them are adults. Where we live its kinda far out so my friends are far away. I do know this one girl who lives two houses down. She's 15 like me I think and she rides horses.

I went to private school for my entire life, except for one year in which I attended public school, so I know what both are like in a sense. It mostly depends on the specific school and area, of course. All are a bit different

Where I lived, in Rhode Island, most of the public schools were total garbage. There aren't any gifted programs. Almost all the smart kids go to private schools there. If I had gone to public high school, I would have been the smartest kid in the school and one of the only white kids. I would not have been able to take many of the AP courses and Calculus classes that I ended up taking in my Private school. Mine was a secular school, just filling in for what the public schools left to be desired. So not all private schools are religiously affiliated. No uniforms or anything, but not as lax as public schools. Certainly no beating. My one year in public school, I did no work and got all A's. And that was in the academically accelerated program. None of the teachers cared much. Perhaps if where I lived had gifted programs I could have gone to one of those and saved money, but private was the only realistic option. Also having a smaller school allowed me to learn better and there were less dumb kids in the classes slowing everything down.

As for homeschooling, I think you lose a lot, but if the public schools in your area are terrible and you don't have the money for private...not much you can do and it may be the best option.
