Now i know we have a "do you believe in god?" debate, but what about religion. I mean you don't have to believe in god to have religion, i could give examples but i'm lazy.....Do you guys have a religion or do you think one is better than the other?

Religion: A thing one is devoted to. (as in the dictionary)

Thus this means that anything can be a religion. True you do not have to believe in God to have a relegion.

I'm a practicing catholic, [as in i go to church every sunday, blah blah blah ] and I do not really consider myself to be overly religious, but w/e.
supporting kwanki-sama's statement, I say that fighting wars over religion is stupid, though I do not say religion itself is, though. People make their chocies based upon what they believe, and just because some people have different beliefs, i don't think wars should be fought over it.

But seriously no. I don't have a religion unless you consider Agnosticism as one. Though basically, I'm also what you call a non-practicing Catholic. I go to Church but I don't really believe it and I don't pray anymore.

There is a God but organized religion is but lies and confusion, I think. Everyone should decide for their selves and not be dictated by ancient laws that its own preachers don't follow anyway.

However, I don't want to call it stupid. I admire religion or some of its devotees in a way that they would die for their beliefs. It's just that, it's more of your interpretation. You just don't have to believe everything you know.

Except I'm one of those speical priests that get to be a goddess.

But if you think about it aren't the bigots who makle war in the name of a faith blasphemers of a sort since they are taking the name of their faith in vain. I suggest that the fault is with the follower and not the faith.

Faith as it is, is a wonderful thing to have. It breeds hope and gives a person a sense of purpose to their lives, but we must be careful not to allow organised religion to give us the slanted sense of superiority that would corrupt our faith

Officially, I'm a non-practicing Catholic. But seeing as how I really do not like the Catholic church, I will just place my self under the generalness of Christianity. (I still don't fit any of the exact churches though, considering how I believe in reincarnation and the like. >.>)

For some organzied religons are good. And for others... well, you gotta find your own ideas.

War is fought over religion for an imaginary friend some call god. What cracks me up is how 90% of religion is based off the 10 commandments (Which i feel could be cut down to 3) So anyone who`s religious is a sinner in their own religion. (confusing) Basically we all commit sins. Everyone does, its life. War is a tragic comedy in a religious eye. Think about it, we have a war over different beliefs who still basically believe the same thing, just diff p.o.v`s of what happens after life. But yet they all sin by killing each other to prove thier faith. Now since this is done they make lil loopholes to benifit this cause... some call it a crusade. WHich they use as a reason to kill in the name of their god. Its very confussing well im sick of trying to explain what im thinking im sure u get the point.

As u can assume im atheist. ..... im not going to get into that.... later date perhaps ;)

There are different religions. Not all of them belive in God or the ten commandments. Also most wars aren't faught just because of religious differences.

If you look though you will find that at the fundemental level most of the world's religions all adhere to a similar code of principles, For example Love thy neighbour, Never put jam in a toaster, y'know that sort of thing which is generally good. the problem comes when they introduce concepts like not doing any work on a saturday or being forbidden from eating the flesh of a hog because it has more toes than a cow or something like that.

Religion.. touchy subject. I personally am verry opposed to all tradition, ritualls, various thing of the like. There's no heart in that. However I am Christian. I am one of those that would die for what I believe, yet I would try to avoid war by all means. However, war at times is necessary to rid evil. Face the fact: PEOPLE ARE STUPID. A lot of people who find that mankind is nothing higher than a race of animals will kill other human beings for little or no reason. Not all war is fought becaus of religion, and I don't try to justify ones that were. But what are those with morals, those who have heart, those who actually care about the individual lives of other people suposed to do? Let men like Adolph Hitler murder millions at a time just because he despises them? I don't think anyone here is heartless enough to say so. Excuse my harsh words, but I would gladly kill a man so evil.
