Each club has had its stars this season, and here are each clubs top five performances in my opinion.
ADELAIDE ATTITUDE
1. Daniel Wagon: Has been brilliant all year in attack and defence, and earnt himself a QLD jumper with his consistency.
2. Ben Harris: The little known rookie has been a super utility for the club, filling in across the backline when big name stars are out.
3. Chris Walker: One of the ASRL's most devestating runners of the ball, Walker has been integral in getting Adelaide into contention for a finals berth.
4. Daniel Herbet: The Union convert, alongside Walker, has been dominating PoM tallying for the centres.
5. Darren Albert: The hero of Origin one, Albert's season has been marred by untimely injuries. Still, the quicksilver winger continues to rack up tries.
BRISBANE BULLS
1. John Hopoate: After a quiet season at the Central Coast, 'Hoppa' has been terrifying smaller wingers all year.
2. Shannon Heggarty: He may be getting old, but his legs are still some of the fastest and strongest in the ASRL.
3. Sean Ryan: Has been a revelation in the second row, a devestating weapon in broken play.
4. Matthew Burke: The Blues' fullback has won many games with his kick returns and accurate goal-kicking.
5. Scott Donald: Although he's only played a few games, Scott Donald has proven himself to be a prospect of the future with a bevy of strong performances.
CANBERRA CHARGERS
1. Scott Logan: The inspirational leader at the club, Logan has been strong all year, despite missing a repeat Origin berth.
2. Justin Hodges: The unheralded fullback, Hodges has suddenly found himself under the attention of several powerful clubs, especially Gold Coast- who wish to add his speed and power to their backline.
3. Calvin Jones: The American has been doing it easy in the Australian league, his speed and upper body strength shocking many Aussies.
4. Sean Towers: After being rejected by QLD this year, Towers has had another strong season alongside Jonny Wilkinson.
5. Jonah Lomu: Has only recently hit form, but will trouble plenty of wingers as he rushes down the sideline.
CARNARVON COWBOYS
1. David Riolo: In his last year of top level football, Riolo has been as good as ever.
2. Nathan Blacklock: Whilst an Origin jeresey still eludes Blacklock, he continues to be one of the most consistent wingers in the ASRL.
3. Ryan Girdler: 'Girds' has been quiet, but that still keeps him in contention for an end of year Kangaroos jumper.
4. Mark Gasnier: Alongside Girdler, Gasnier makes up one of the strongest threequarter combinations in the ASRL.
5. Luke Rooney: Whilst he is outclassed by bigger names like Blacklock and Sailor, Rooney has still managed to impress with his incredible speed.
CENTRAL COAST FALCONS
1. Scott Prince: Has been outstanding for a side which has failed to turn up most of the season.
2. Gavin Lester: Whilst El Masri and Mackay are better known by the fans, many opposition wingers are now familiar with Lester's tough defence.
3. Braam van Straaten: The ultimate second rower, Braam has a tactical kicking game and strong running style.
4. Hazem El Masri: The steadfast goal-kicker, El Masri has also racked up some tries this season.
5. Willie Talau/ Nigel Vagana: A dead heat between two of the league's most talented centres.
CENTRAL PHOENIX
1. Clinton Schifcofske: The best player this season, Schifcofkse has been dominant at every level. With his kicking game, level head and goal-kicking- he is the leading light for the Phoenix.
2. Colin Best: Surprisingly good year for the little known speedster, who has been strong in every Central game.
3. Craig Wing: The best halfback in the league at the moment, he dominates other sides with his unpredictable running.
4. Lesley Vainakolo: The Volcano has been good all year, and opposition sides are still nervous whenever he touches the ball.
5. Gorden Tallis: The rock in a tough Central line, Tallis is still high in the try-scoring stakes thanks to a powerful Bob Fulton Cup display.
COFFS HARBOUR WYRMS
1. Stirling Mortlock: Has been a revelation this season, and one of Coffs Harbour's few consistent performers.
2. Richie Barnett: Will be pushing for a return to rep football with another strong performance after leaving Brisbane.
3. Willie Leyshon: The little known lock has been scaring the crap out of opposing players, as he is known to deliver some tough tackles.
4. Paul Atchison: Whilst he isn't a household name, Atchison's speed and style have impressed everyone in the ASRL.
5. Richard Taylor: The PE teacher from Glen Innes, Taylor has been a super-sub for the Wyrms this season.
COUNTRY DIAMONDS
1. Gary Connolly: Last year's best centre has backed it up this season, fighting hard for a side that just doesn't try most of the season.
2. Ivan Cleary: The level-headed veteran of the side, Cleary pilots his side around the park with expertise.
3. Eric Hollingsworth: The little known American has surprised a lot of people with his tactical passing and kicking.
4. Jamie Ainscough: Hasn't been as big as last year, but still manages to get around some of the younger wingers.
5. Brad Watts: Has been filling in all over the park, and has shown plenty of versatility.
DARWIN CYCLONES
1. Alan Watts: The speediest, and arguably strongest, winger in the ASRL at the moment- Watts finds himself all over the park to plug gaps in the Darwin line.
2. Adam MacDougall: The Mad Dog has been killing them all season, his strength and speed making him one of the best wingers in the game.
3. Steven Hughes: Solid all year.
4. Steve Kefu: Has lived up to his hefty price tag, with many strong performances in the centre. Still, with Darwin at risk of dropping to second division, he'll need to prove his value.
5. Shane Rua: The Kiwi utility has spent most of the season in fullback, ahead of guys like Matt Seers, showing his level headedness again and again.
EASTWOOD PUMAS
1. Matt Adamson: Another veteran putting in one last strong effort before retirement, Adamson has been a consistenly strong defender.
2. Ben Tune: Has been a shining light in a poor side, with speed and intelligence the key to his game.
3. Mick Cassidy: One of the best defenders in the league, he gets through a power of tackling for the Eastwood side.
4. David Furner: Hasn't been as strong as last year at Hobart, but is still a powerhouse in attack and defence.
5. Francis Maloney: Maloney has been an unsung hero in the Eastwood side, and has even knocked over a few goals in Furner's absence.
GOLD COAST CRUSADE
1. Chris McKenna: A sure thing for an Australian jersey, McKenna is without a doubt the best centre in the game today.
2. Tommy O'Reilly: The rookie sensation, O'Reilly has one of the most refined kicking games in the ASRL, and also knows his way to the tryline.
3. Brian Carney: Was strong last year, and is at it again this year with a strong performance in a star-studded backline.
4. Tevita Vaikona: The abundance of talent in the Gold Coast backline is so great that Vaikona continually fights with Sovatabua for a backline spot.
5. Kris Radlinski: When he's not injured, Radlinski is one of the league's best fullbacks, with no defensive holes to speak of in his game.
To be continued.....
