PREMIER LEAGUE
The Sydney derby between Parramatta and the Northern Cannons had plenty at stake, with
both sides having failed to make convincing starts to the 2006 season. In an entertaining

The sin-binning of Sydney's Craig Gower in the final ten minutes of his side's big clash
against Sunshine Coast has proven crucial, with the Angels scoring a try and a late penalty
to turn a 16-14 lead into a 24-14 victory. The Oilers had been coming home with a wet
sail after a quiet first half, but without their playmaker and a man down, they were unable
to upset the home side.

The game of the round (and season thus far) tonight pitted first placed Manchester
Phoenix against the equally devestating Adelaide Attitude - with outright leadership of the
Premier League at stake in a huge clash in South Australia. Fans were given a grandstand
finish to a thrill a minute match when Manchester's Mark Hilton scored with just fifty
seconds remaining to bring his side to within four points of the Attitude. Home ground
advantage proved telling, however, and the Attitude were able to hang on for a 30-26
victory.

Their first win of the season has obviously given Barcelona FC a taste for it - with the
struggling Spanish club scoring its second consecutive win of the season with a

California may well find themselves propping up the Premier League table following

Brian Carney was the hero today in Gold Coast's nail-biting 18-15 victory over the South

side to victory which will please him most of all.
