Thats better.
How do the top 8 playoffs work??
chriswalkerbush - February 18, 2006 02:21 PM (GMT)
We're using the McIntyre top eight, which is what the NRL uses. For this example I'll use the top eight I predicted.
Week One
Capetown (4) vs. Central (5) at Newlands Stadium
Wellington (3) vs. Sydney (6) at Jade Stadium
Northern (2) vs. Wollongong (7) at Brookvale Oval
Gold Coast (1) vs. Brisbane (8) at Carara Stadium
The two lowest ranked losers are eliminated and the two highest placed winners receive a week off. Let's assume Gold Coast, Northern, Sydney, and Capetown win. Brisbane and Wollongong are eliminated, whilst Gold Coast and Northern receive the bye.
Week Two
Highest ranked winner vs. lowest ranked loser (Capetown vs. Sydney)
Lowest ranked winner vs. highest ranked loser (Central vs. Wellington)
Now let's assume that Wellington and Sydney win. The losers are out.
Week Three
Gold Coast vs. Sydney
Northern vs. Wellington
Then the two winners face off in the grand final

nice to see confidence from the CEO regarding Redfern making the 8 but it's looking lke a big ask with the easy games the other teams have!

Swap Central Coast with Darwin and that seems about right to me.
Want the Falcons have to win all their games to make it now?
