Title: Super League 06/07

JohnThe Pommie - January 22, 2006 12:21 PM (GMT)
St. Helens have been made favourites to sweep the board, with wigan and leeds expected to make a strong challenge.
I can understand saints being made favourites as the super league was theirs for the taking last season until Terry Newton completed his one man wrecking mission in the game at the jjb, when saints totally outclassed the wiganers (again).
With new additions Francis Meli and Jason Cayless, plus a hopefully fully fit Paul Sculthorpe alongside rejuvenated Sean Long and Keiron Cunningham, i feel the rest of the pack are going to find it hard keeping up with saints....

P.S. The word on the grapevine is Darren Albert may return to the saints as he has been seen training at knowsley road for the last couple of weeks, hope he returns , then gardner could make way, there would be no weak links threoughout the team then....
Looking forward to returning both trophies to their rightful home.

Register for an ASRL team, dammit! We need more English players.

I'll be backing Wigan as the 2006 favourites

Had the best recruiting this year with Brian Fletcher, Scott Geddies, Marc Calderwood and Micky Higham in return for really Terry Newton and Brian Carney.

We'll have Sean O'Loughlin and *fingers crossed* Gareth Hock back in action PLUS the emergance of Kevin Brown who I think will play big things this year for Wigan and either force Dennis Moran back to fullback to replace Radlinski (except for the 2 games he plays each year :P) or if Danny Orr decided he wants to return to the Jungle

Saints are probably the other main contendor. With Karl Pryce and a fit Sean Long and Paul Sculthorpe, I would be suprised to see them in the GF too

Dont disagree that wigan had a good recruitment drive in the off season with some quality buys, if anyone can change wigan around it is Mr. Millward, we know all about Mr. Millward(oozes quality), but i find it very hard to believe everything will click into place first time around, this saints team has been together for quite a few years now with Jamie Lyon settled, the big question surrounds meli, as cayless already comes over with quite a reputation, cant be any worse than ade gardner.
If ur a wigan fan, living in uk, send me ur email, need more wigan fans to take the piss out of, look forward to seeing you back in the bigtime....

Nah I'm an Aussie.... Chriswalkerbush' flatmate actually.

Truth be told I'm not sure who I support. I love Bradford with Stu Fielden and Andy Lynch.... I like Saints with Scully and the former Darren Britt and Barry Ward... and Wigan has always been a favourite of mine thanks to Andy Farrell, Brian Carney, Danny Orr and Gareth Hock PLUS they got Micky Higham and Marc Calderwood...... plus I like Castleford and Michael Shenton

All in all.... I'm a confussed ESL fan!

I think Millward can do it.... i think the sooner he puts Kevin Brown in the drivers seat and gets rid of old man Radlinski and old man Moron, the sooner they'll become to reclaiming their old early 90's dynasty title.

Mind you, Saints have some unreal young talent too... and if they get given the drivers seat, we'll be in for an interesting 06 season

I live in st. helens in the uk, and follow them religiously, everybody raved about leeds last season, but it was saints who played the better brand of footy throughout with lyon leading the way, leeds have lost good players this season as have the bulls, but wigan have recruited hard.
I will be looking out for the sharks this season with albert in the team, and also the roosters because of Mark Edmondson, also you aussies know your rugby so u must already know, fielden is the daddy, big admirer of his....
If you ave any scoops on the rumour that Darren Albert not happy at cronulla, been seen training with saints again in the uk, big rumour he may come back, as he is seen training with jamie lyon all the time, just gonna go and rob a bank, tie Jamie up for life. The man is awesome.

MrCharisma - January 23, 2006 11:39 PM (GMT)
I'm pretty big on Saints.... huge fan of Lyon, Talau, Scully, Gilmore and Long. Leeds I didn't rate last season... I was unsure for ages and I then was getting feelings by some miracle it'd be Hulls year. Saints definately deserved to be there but were majorly arse punched to key players.

I think it's a well known fact that Albert doesn't want to go to the Sharks, since he is married to Paul Wellens sister and she's pulling the strings and doesn't wanna leave.

I've been a huge fan of Fielden for years. He was one of the men who got me into Super League... I've actually got some signed stuff from Stu and I've had contact with him before. Scarely, he knows who I am.

We all know Jamie is leaving at the end of the year. Sad but true.... but by then you'll have Scott Moore, Ian Hardman and James Graham ripping up the park.

Being on the other side of the world, u may have missed the boat, when millward left, the rumour was, Albert, his girl and millward, 3 into 2 dont go.
maybe its just the rumour mill, but while with saints, millward got up to some serious shit, thats why he was booted out.
He was also gripped round the throat by wellens at the JJB, when he accused anderson, of "playing with my team", and was told by wello, just f**k off.
The lads really seem to like anderson, but the jury is still out, season starts in two weeks, cant wait man.
If you come up with anymore for me, drop me a line.
See you later.
When is big mal comin back to saints, the man still gives me the goose pimples, whatta hero.....

P.s. saints biggest up and coming talent is a guy called Jon Wilkin, gonna be big, similar style of play to Paul Sculthorpe....

MrCharisma - January 24, 2006 12:16 AM (GMT)
I love Jon Wilkin... can't believe I forgot him :P. He's a player who's really impressed me... although Ade Gardner really impressed me and he's done practically nothing.

All in all, shall be an interesting year... especially with the Tigers back into the mix. It just didn't seem right without them.

I think Saints will win the Challange Cup.... and I've got a feeling Wigan will win the GF

douglasallen19 - January 24, 2006 12:50 AM (GMT)
hull will defend their challenge cup.

Register there and it'll send you the rules files. The game itself is basically the running of a fantasy club, recruiting players, and such. If you got in now there's some quality sides floating around.
