Johannesburg Hyenas vs Katherine Kings
24-10
The Katherine Kings face a long period without captain Gordon Ross after today’s loss to the Hyenas. From the moment he left the field the game went badly for the Kings. Without their captain the Hyenas began to give away silly penalties, while some good dummy half runs from Mcillorum gave the Hyenas a roll on. The win elevates the Hyenas to their highest position on the ladder this season at 17th.

North West Kookaburras vs Hawthorne Huricanes
20-16
The Hurricanes coach will be irate this afternoon after an 11-5 penalty count saw his side go down in a nailbiter today. The Hurricanes were sensational thoughout the match and after injury to Raston, Haberecht and Green were forced to cycle a one player bench from the 65th minute. The Kookaburras made the most of a truly fatigued hurricanes side who were continually penalised for offside offenses. Four second half penalty goals gave the Kookaburras the win, while all six POM’s went to the losing side.

Northern Territory Lions vs Glen Innes Magpies
8-10
With the two sides separated by points differential alone a nailbiting clash was expected. The first half presented just that. The Lions led 8-6 at halftime. The second half never looked like being close. Converted tries to Rovelli and Oliver saw the Magpies take the match in front of a small hostile crowd. The win sees the Magpies rise ti 14th on the ladder.

Port Hedlands Jets vs Cairns White Pointers
28-14
Cletus O’Loftus was the catalyst for todays win over the White Pointers. The pacy winger made three great runs at vital stages and was fired up in defense throughout the clash. It was a great game for the Jets backs who made the defense of the White Pointers suffer.

Port Kembla Voodoo vs Gisborne Heat
18-8
Strong wind made the game hard for the kickers today, with Murrell doing the better of the two kickers. The home advantage obviously played a part in his three tough goals while Cummins was unsuccessful with all three attempts. Despite some sloppy play by the Voodoo the side managed to create many opportunities from their open play. Jones was inspirational at prop. The captain made eight linebreaks and managed to finish one with a try in the 7th minute. The 80 minute performance of the inspiring prop demolished the usually tough Gisborne pack and Jones deservingly took the 3 POM’s this week.

Ryde Eagles vs Balmain Storm
2-12
Despite the narrow scoreline this game had plenty of action. Three disallowed tries highlighted the desperation of Balmains defense. Every time Ryde crossed the line the Storm managed to dislodge the ball and prevent a try. While some patient work from Balmain in attack saw two tries come about and a third disallowed. Both sides will be nursing bruises in the aftermath of this punishing game.

Sunshine Coast Wizards vs Birchgrove Pistoleers
24-23
A disappointing crowd was on hand to witness an absolute thriller today. With the loss of Gisborne meaning the win was for the competition lead. The game started poorly for the Wizards after an early penalty goal to Birchgrove and a disallowed try in the 14th. The Pistoleers came close in the 22nd but also had a try disallowed. Ten minutes later Ryder rectified the situation with a converted try out wide. The Wizards responded in the 51st minute with a converted try to Hinton. The trend continued try for try until the 77th minute try to Dustin Cooper. Tanner converted a moderately difficult goal to seal the close match 24-23. The RSC has its second leader of the season.
