ASRL FC announce squad for the NRL sevens

With this the most antisipaited sevens comp for a number of years, ASRL FC has named the ten man squad to take the field in the 2003 NRL sevens. It was standing room only at the Star City Casino as ASRL FC club captain Matt Lyons read the squad out. The squad will be as follows...

ASRL FC has been put in a very winable group, that consists of Wakefield Trinity, Manly and the London Broncos.

KICK OFF
After the kick off from ASRL, Wakefield throughs a lose ball which is swept on by Matt Lyons, who runs 90 meters untouched to put the ball down under the sticks. Marskell pots the conversion. ASRL 6-0.
At the end of a strong first set by ASRL FC, Sharpe puts a small grubber through into the ingoal, which is pounced on by prop Brian Randell for a great try. Marskell missed the conversion, ASRL FC 10-0.
A great set of quick dummy half darts from the ASRL outside back, has paved the way for lock Justin Marskell to crash over besides the sticks on the stroke of half time, giving him an easy conversion.
HALFTIME: ASRL FC 16 - Wakefield Trinity 0
In a tough second half struggle another loose pass from Wakefield setup the first try of the second half, with nippy half Luke Sharpe picking up the dregs and scoring to put the game beyond doubt. Marskell Converts, ASRL FC 22 - Wakefield 0.
In the despiration of the final minutes Wakefield fullback Matt Seers out paces a tired looking ASRL side to pick up a late try to assure there is no nuddie run for the Wildcats. Conversion missed. ASRL FC 22-4.

Manly burst out of the gates will an wonderful try to Albert Torrens, try was converted for a 6-0 Manly lead. Andrew Young crashed over out wide just a minute later after some great backline moves by ASRL. Adams converts to make it 6-all. A shocking missed tackle by Jelly adams allowed Wooden to slide in under the sticks for Manly's second try, conversion makes it 12-6 to Manly. Fowler crossed after brushing aside 3 Manly defenders to score, Adams missed the shot at goal, which means Manly still lead 12-10. The ASRL backline was again in full swing allow Adams to cross next to the post after being on the end of a set move. Adams converted as the halftime buzzer went in the background.
HALFTIME: ASRL FC 16 - MANLY 12
Moblie lock forward Jonathon Marskell display some of the best skills ever seen scoring what is, at the moment, the best try of the comp. Adams converted to make it 22-12. Manly scored a try....BOOOOOO...but missed the conversion 22-16 with 2 minutes to go. Jelly Adams was again on the back of some great backline ball movement to score his second try of the game, he also converted after the buzzer.
