Title: World Cup Delayed!

chriswalkerbush - June 1, 2005 11:46 PM (GMT)
In a startling revelation, the ASRL and WRLO have announced that the proposed World Cup (which was scheduled to take place at the conclusion of this year's ASRL season) will be delayed for at least a year.

'The tournament is certainly important, but a number of ASRL clubs have expressed concern that it may adversely effect the start of the new look, rationalised ASRL season" said tournament organister Nathan Hoy.

Bah - Run just like the RLIF.

lmao

I wouldn't mind running it, but interest needs to be high, as it delays the ASRL season while it's being run. The last World Cup was really well supported by Steve Simmons, Nathan Hoy, Magro, and myself. This time it was just me, so I figured I'd let it stew until more people stepped forward.

i think that you'd probably find that most of the new coaches wouldn't mind having a go at some of the international sides, especially in a world cup. I know that i would, and probably would my brother as well...but youre right, it would take a lot of time, effort and support. It wouldnt be worth running it if it was treated just as a sideshow, rather than a centrepiece.

Exactly my thoughts.

The last one benefitted from having a lot of people posting articles regularly, Steve Simmons' writing a brilliant 'guide' that included previews of all the big clashes, Nathan Hoy's 'Guinness Invitational' cup in the season, and just a general interest in the whole tournament.

I'd consider running it at the conclusion of this season if enough people were interested.
