Title: South Queensland side to be named

westspanthers - February 23, 2005 02:22 AM (GMT)
South Queensland coach Josh Hussey will name his team later today or early tomorrow for the annual Sth vs Nth Queensland derby. In what is always a tough match Hussey has come out and said that name players count for nothing and form is everything, and has tipped a few suprise selections are on the cards. "The team is on form only, I don't care who the player is, if they are not in there best form they do not make the team simple as that. In the last couple of years I have been a bit leanient on that and we have been beaten so now if not in form they will stay with there own club instead of representing the South. The team wil be named a bit later after the South Queensland board meets to decide on a few positions that are still up in the air, but all in all should be a very strong side!"
The last 2 seasons have seen South Queensland go down to the North but will things change this year? South Queensland have also announced they are also going to put in an official letter to the ASRL to claim Wendell Sailor as a Southern Queenslander. It has been discorvered that Sailor born in Sarina, in fact played his junior Football in Wide Bay, which is in the Sth Qld Regoin therefor making him a Sth Qld eligible player, which would certainly be to the delight of the South as the North tried to claim both Travis Norton and Toutai Kefu last year who are both South Queensland eligible players and not North.
