Title: Round Nine

MrCharisma - February 10, 2005 04:45 AM (GMT)
It was a battle of who cared less when 17th positioned Rabual defeated 18th positioned Port Kembla. While it was a thriller for Ranger fans, it was a scoreline which everybody expected.
Port Kembla: Raymond Ruaporo, Gareth Thomas 2/2
Rabaul: Chris Kendra, Semi Taduala, Daniel Dumas, Edelbert Dinha. Tutaki 2/3, Tuni 1/3
PoM: Meli Tuni 3, Michael Marum 2, Tane Tutaki 1

Some miscommunication has cost The Entrance a nine game winning streak when they went down 16-6 agaisnt Kensington. While coach Magro gave his orders before traveling to Adelaide with the Falcons, the Entrance ended up being forced to play Craig Emmerton who had a broken leg. Some smart plays by Howard Open exploited the 16 man side to take the win.
The Entrance: Trevor Thurling. El Masri 1/1
Kensington: Lenny Beckett, Matt Dunning. Opan 4/4
PoM: Lenny Beckett 3, Adam Nable 2, John Wilson 1

Cairns have moved up a notch after defeating Balmain 30-12. Even with the home ground advantage, the Storm never looked threatening who's only points came from 'soft' tries.
Balmain: Dean Colli, Tim McGann, Pritchard 2/2
Cairns: Nick Youngquest, Claude Sirvent, Ben Solomon, Steve Simmons, Darren Rogers, Luke Cross. Yukamizo 3/6
PoM: Nick Youngquest 3, Steve Simmons 2, Luke Cross 1

Hunter aren't just trying to wedge themselves for minor Premiership, they are bashing there way there with a monster 42-24 over Hawthorn. It was a game full of points with Andy Smith bagging 18 for himself.
Hawthorn: Michael Young, Alan Rothery, Ben Jeffries, Daniel Russell. Tatu 4/4
Hunter: Scott Naylor x2, Beau Mundine x2, Andy Smith, Chris Bridge, Matt Cooke. Smith 7/8
PoM: Andy Smith 3, Scott Naylor 2, Chris Bridge 1

The difference of the boot was almost the difference as Birchgrove narrowly went down 21-16 to Gisborne. While Vassilakopoulos had a field day punting 4 from 5 but for opponent Chris Melling it just wasn't his day.
Gisborne: Chris Melling, Chuck Randall x2, Martin Aspinwall. Melling 2/5 1 drop goals to Adrian Mirhalov
Birchgrove: Dean Byrne, David Westley. Vassilakopoulos 4/5
PoM: Dayne Neirinckx 3, Chev Walker 2, Chuck Randall 1

North West have taken a 24-12 claim over a chaotic Wests Pathers side and now find themselves just inches away from 1st place. At half-time the game was leveling as a thriller but as time went on it was again Daniel Ferris who brought home another win.
Wests: Gary Tupou, Nick Parfitt, Johansson 2/3
North West: Sam Key, Darren Taylor, Henry Perenara, James Wynne. Ferris 4/6
PoM: Sam Key 3, Martin Kanyon 2, Daniel Ferris 1

Ryde have finally gotten their shit together after destroying top8 contender Christchurch: 30-0. It was a display of miracles as Nate Smith weaved his magic to get his side 18-0 atnthe half-time break.
Ryde: Nate Smith, Simon Cooke, Brent Grose, Nautake Haga, Chris Motu. Smith 5/7
Christchurch: N/A
PoM: Nautake Haga 3, Nate Smith 2, Simon Cooke 1

One of Neil Sweeney's ex-girlfriends must have put a curse on the Gold Coast winger in the lead-up to Valentines Day. While the Wizards needed no magic to defeat Pine River 32-8, Sweeney's leg was more wooden then real as he booted a terrible 2 from 7 record.
Sunshine Coast: Brett Stewart x2, Ade Gardner, Dustin Cooper, Dane Campbell, Marcus Perenara, Dean Payne. Sweeney 2/7
Pine Rivers: Frank Miranda. Webster 2/2
PoM: Dustin Cooper 3, Todd Lowrie 2, Dean Payne 1

Even without the talented Jamie Simpson, Souths Magpies took down the cocky Kandy Jesters. While it's not time to fear the Magpie season yet, you should watch out for promising James Anderson who was able to snare a double with little help.
Kandy: Stuart Webb, Sean Carstens. Ross 1/2
Souths: Sema Metora, Ben Lowe, Jacob Lillyman, James Anderson x2. Rangihuna 5/6
PoM: Sema Metora 3, Joel Rapana 2, Tim Rangihuna 1
