Queensland Isotopes actually win by 70 runs.

chriswalkerbush - December 1, 2004 03:07 PM (GMT)
Bah, so I basically might as well not bother submitting a side next week, since I'll lose because of this week's non submission.

Schmo - December 2, 2004 11:05 AM (GMT)
I sent out 2 reminders that teams were due 9pm Saturday. I played all the games Saturday night. I couldn't replay the game for you because its impossible to because it keeps records of best performances for each team and an overall record, and if I replay the match, the first game may have record in it, and therefore it would throw the stats at the end of the season.

When a game is played where 2 teams are not sent in, there are no run penalties, only the penalty that players cannot gain POM points. Next time you send your team in however and are playing a team that has sent their side in, you do only get given 75% of the runs scored and still dont gain POM points. If you are again playing a team that has not been sent, both teams play with no penalties. The 75% runs rule applies the first game you send your side in after you didnt send your team in, and you are playing an opposition team that has sent a side.

*Sigh* Seems stupid, but whatever

trognierrrr - December 2, 2004 12:08 PM (GMT)
yeah man, i can understand being punished for not handing in your orders......buuuuuttttttt. i cant understand why u get double, possibly tripple or more penalised just because the other guy didnt hand his in too.....thats one bad set of rules :P

imagine if u ran a stop sign in your car and had an accident, u get done for neg driving, the police question the other car and find out the driver is unlicenced, so you get an extra fine on top of your neg driving, then with further investigation, find out the car you t-boned is unregistered, all of a sudden your looking a a 3 year licence ban and jail time...dont think that should happen do u :P :P

:bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :ouch: :yellow:

Schmo - December 2, 2004 09:48 PM (GMT)
Explain how you are getting punished two or three times?
You only ever get hit with the run penalty once for each time you side is not sent.

Rowland

chriswalkerbush - December 3, 2004 03:47 AM (GMT)
But we're getting hit for it the week after we stuffed up. Considering I was in Newcastle all weekend, I wasn't exactly able to receive either of your reminders.

Why is it not possible to apply run penalties when both sides fail to send in orders?

Schmo - December 3, 2004 07:16 AM (GMT)
Why is it not possible to apply run penalties when both sides fail to send in orders?

It would be pointless in taking 25% off both teams if they both didn't send in a side, as it would be basically the same result with or without the penalty. Therefore either coach isn't really penalised if I do impose the run penalty, so its for this reason that you guys get hit with it the week after if you play a side that has a team sent in. The run penalty is there to try and get games happening, and it should help out the teams that do send in their side for the week, so if the penalty is given between 2 sides that have not been sent, that doesn't help the guys that have sent a side in, so it is taken over until you play a team that has sent a side.

Im all open for alternative suggestions for penalties, as this is proving hard to explain. I am having trouble explaining it, so I can imagine you guys are having trouble understanding.

chriswalkerbush - December 3, 2004 03:19 PM (GMT)
In the ASRL, if two sides fail to send a side in, it's what I call 'dumb luck'. They essentially get away with it, but it avoids a lot of complications. It's your comp, and I can see why you have to 'extend' the penalty, but it does kind of feel like being punished for a past indescretion.

trognierrrr - December 5, 2004 10:24 AM (GMT)
i can totally understand the need for punishment, what im saying is fair enough both teams send no orders, then the following week they recieve their run% drop, but if they send in their orders that week and their opponent fails to send theirs in, wht the **** should they be penalised with no poms again, and then their punishment put back another week.....you are saying it is possibly to fail to put your side in in round 1, then due to other coaches not putting their sides in, recieve no pom's for the entire season, thats the 2-3 times i was talking about.....

Schmo - December 6, 2004 11:29 AM (GMT)
OK I have had a rethink and how does this sound-
A game is played where 2 team are not sent in. The team that wins gains 1 point for a win rather than the normal 2, and the losing side gets 0 points. Each side cannot gain pom points.

A game is played where one team isn't sent and the other is. The team not sent only gets 1 point if they win, but if the team wins that sent their orders, they gain 2 normal points. The side that was not sent cannot gain POM points.

Note the 75% run thing is totally gone.

Hows that look to everyone?

Rowland

chriswalkerbush - December 6, 2004 01:00 PM (GMT)
Seems far less complicated, and doesn't prolong the period of punishment more than it needs to be. Gets my seal of approval.

trognierrrr - December 6, 2004 07:29 PM (GMT)
yup, im in agreeance
