Title: RSC Minor Semi Finals

chriswalkerbush - October 28, 2004 02:26 PM (GMT)
With a weekend of upsets last week allowing fifth placed Hunter and sixth placed Johannesberg unlikely weeks off, this week saw the top two sides clashing with the bottom two sides for a chance at a major semi final berth. With both Sunshine Coast and Kensington suffering unexpected losses last weekend, this week would put both teams' premiership claims to the test- with desperate Tigers and Panthers' sides ready to pounce on any mistakes.

In the first qualifier of the round, the Kensington Highrollers proved last week's stumble against Wests was nothing to worry about- easily accounting for last year's runners up, The Entrance, 26-6. A faultless defensive display in the first half saw the Highrollers comfortable 14-0 leaders, and they will progress on to take on red hot Hunter for a place in the grand final.
Kensington Highrollers 26 (Lucas Solblat 2, Matt Dunning, Barry Eaton, and Jack Isaac. Eaton 3/5) defeated The Entrance Tigers 6 (Reni Mautia. El Masri 1/2).
PoM Points: Matt Dunning 3, Lucas Solblat 2, and Nathan Graham 1.

The second semi final of the weekend was no less one sided, with the first placed Sunshine Coast Wizards bouncing right back to form to humble local rivals, Wests, 32-12 in front of a dismayed Panthers' crowd. A late try to Brenton Bowen in the first half left the home side behind 20-12, but a dominant second half from the minor premiers led them to a semi final clash with Johannesberg.
Sunshine Coast Wizards 32 (David Seage, George Carmont 2, Trent Clayton 2, and Steve Witt. Williams 4/6) defeated Wests Panthers 12 (Brenton Bowen and Adam Mogg. Irwin 2/2).
PoM Points: Trent Clayton 3, David Seage 2, and George Carmont 1.

A good bounce back by the boys. We owe it all to our physical and spiritual leader
Matt Dunning who has truly proven that he can play rugby league and is not just a fat bastard.
