Title: Cricket Competition

Schmo - September 9, 2004 11:41 AM (GMT)
Once again I am trying to get a Cricket comp up and running soon.
Last time, teams were not sent in for me to play the games, and as by the rules, a side not sent in meant that the other team automatically won the game. That meant with only about 3 of the 7 sides sent in every week, I could only play 1 or 2 games for the comp, making it not real fun. This time around, all games will be played but im thinking along the lines of if you dont send a team in, your team only gets credit for 80% of their runs scored, and your injured players will not get any better. This is there to reflect that the players may not have been training hard and getting physio etc.

A bit of background to this fantasy cricket, Its basically run like the ASRL, with a simulator running a game. Based on the players in your team, it works out a score and bowling stats etc and gives and end result taking into account form of bastman, pitch conditions and bowler types, homeground advantages etc. There are no formguides to speak of, and its the coaches job to keep a track of batting and bowling performances, you dont Ricky Ponting on 123 form like you might if it was ASRL style, but its safe to say that if he hits 78 and then 56 not out, that he is in form. This is true because in the first season I ran, one player i had scored 3 centuries in a row ,followed it up with 80 odd and then another 50 odd. same goes with bowlers. Put on players that are taking wickets rather than the bowler with better stats. So there is form there but, you just have to look for who is in form.

this first time around, only international players will be able to be picked, and I plan to introduce a feeder club style system in the second season, with players from the ING cup making up those squads and being able to be brought up at the end of seasons if you want to.

I ask only those people who are interested to reply, because I dont want it to fail again this time. Id like as many people to play as possible, around 8 teams in total would be great to start a first season. Naturally ill be one, so thats 7 people Im after who can send in a side once a week. Thats all I ask.

What about plugging around for people from beyond the ASRL?

Schmo - September 10, 2004 12:42 PM (GMT)
Ill see who comes up in this forum still. Another 2 people would be good, that way its 4 games a week and a bye.

Player pool and rules have been uploaded to the groups page.
Look over these over the next few days while I figure out a few smaller things.

Im open to suggestions of where to hold the draft. At the moment I have no idea where to do it. From memory the IIRL site has one. If there are places better places please say so.

I still need Anthony, Nath and Douglas to activate their groups invite so I can start using that.
