Coach Anthony McElroy released joint tean lists for Adelaide and Coffs harbour today for the upcoming 7's tournament. Both teams go into the tournament on a high after sucessful matches over the last weekend which has seen coffs creep from last to tenth and Adelaide move within striking distance of the top three. Morale is high at both clubs and its good to see coffs disastrious start to the season overturned by some big wins over heavyweights such as Wellington and the Central Coast in the last few rounds. The coach credited this turn around to the use of japanese player Koru Tirohara as a supersub and the return to form of club main man, Ronan O'Gara who seems to have got his focus back. 620,000 man Brian Carney is realing pulling his weight now with some superstar performances.
The injuries continue to roll over our beloved Attitude and Wyrms but our depth is really showing. our biggest weapon Rupeni Caucau and last seasons ASRL rookie of the year Red Apokalips return to the park for round 7 matches while doug Howlett is expected to be rested to try an overcome a niggling foot injury. Matt Geyer and Darren Smith are recovering well from their ailments and sholud be back on deck in the next three to four weeks. Martin lang also suffered yet another concussion that will see him sidelined for about two weeks. With young guns like Lars Ojanssen and Courtney Brideston firing and with Matt Parsons and christian lambert waiting in the wings its going to be an uphill battle to get into the team. British sensation Henry Paul has only managed to crack the team once!
Coffs harbour have had their own share of injury woes with Tonie Carroll and Tom Bowman still a month or two from return. Willie Talau joins them on the long term injury list with a dangerous tackle leaving some sickening images for all of us when he was ambulanced off the field. his boots will befield by up and coming steve kefu who has really shown he is a great prospect between last years finals and filling the spots in the backline. Young Yoshikazu Kanemaru has realy suprised us in his improvement at adapting to lock over the last few rounds.
