Title: Annual 7's Comp
Description: It's BACK!

MrCharisma - July 15, 2004 11:06 AM (GMT)
The Bob Fulton Cup is long gone and the Crown Casino Risk is yet to hit, which mean's it's ASRL 7's time.

ASRL 7's is a fast paced tournament, which sees sides from Premier League, Division One and RSC sides compete for either the Plate, Bowl or the Championship trophies as well as ASRL prize money.

For anyone who is unfamiliar of 7's. Sides are grouped together into groups where they compete to see the most dominant. The top three sides from each group, move on to compete against other groups, in an elimination style tournement. Depending on where you finish will depend on which trophie and opposition you will compete.... so 1st in each group will compete for the Championship, 2nd for the Bowl and the 3rd for Plate.

Each side names 7 players which take part in the run on squad, with 3 reserves named on the bench and the games last for 7 minutes each half.

Any side currently competiting in any ASRL division at the moment is eligable for 7's. Should their be any vacancies, an invitational side will be brought in.

Any other questions, please respond. Once the draw is worked out, a deadline will be brought for sides to be entered. A failure to enter your side, will mean a withdrawl from the tournament (unless I get prior knowledge of an absence), forfieting in any prize.

Fella's this is practically free money. All you need to do is send your side in, it won't last very long and with tight finacial situations this season, what better way of getting ahead. Don't forget you can now buy players for $ASRL.

chriswalkerbush - July 15, 2004 11:17 AM (GMT)
Should also point out that players you name can still play ASRL football, and form/injuries etc suffered playing Sevens won't affect the season proper.

MrCharisma - July 15, 2004 11:24 AM (GMT)
good point.... form will all begin at 100 and i will point out stats from the tournament will not count to the season and nor will injuries. As well as this, a goal kicker will have to be named with sides sent

Andrew - July 15, 2004 01:15 PM (GMT)
Wasn't there a limit on the number of halves, fullbacks etc that you could have in your team last time. Does this still apply?

pennywisealfie - July 15, 2004 03:05 PM (GMT)
im heaps keen for it. Punks, Geelong and Turtles all would like in.

what about players that are injured in the season, will they be able to play sevens

brandell - July 16, 2004 02:26 AM (GMT)
They sghould be allowed, Hawkesbury and Central and NT will kick some arse

MrCharisma - July 16, 2004 06:53 AM (GMT)
Anyone currently injured you will able to be used... everything will be reset for the 7's tournament including both injuries and form.

In responce to Andrew, there is no limit or restrictions to the players you use, but it is ideal if u have at least 2 forwards and two backs in your side.

I've cateorigised the sides into Groups. There will be 15 groups of 4 sides. Three sides from each group will continue into the finals. As a bonus, the top side from each 'category', ie. the strong placed first out of all the groups (likewise with 2nd and 3rd) will recieve a week off in the first round of the finals. Below are the groupings which were drawn randomly;

Group A: Tamworth City (D1), Adelaide (PL), Capetown (PL), Balmain (RSC)
Group B: Northern Territory (RSC), Cairns White (RSC), Parramatta (PL), Perth City (D1)
Group C: Pine River (RSC), Wollongong (PL), Port Adelaide (D1), Wests (RSC)
Group D: North West (RSC), Invitational Side 2 (N/A), Port Moresby (PL), Waikato (D1)
Group E: North Queensland (D1), Birchgrove (RSC),Lake Heights (D1), Colombo (D1)
Group F: Western Suburbs (RSC), Wagga (D1), Hawkesbury (D1), Surfers Paradise (PL)
Group G: Rotarua (RSC), Central Coast (PL), Shanghi (D1), Tassie (D1)
Group H: New England (D1), Penrith (D1), Invitational (N/A), Hunter (RSC)
Group I: Geelong (D1), Newcastle (D1), Carnarvon (PL), Canberra (D1)
Group J: Redlands (D1), Gold Coast (PL), Fairfield (D1), Coffs Harbour (PL)
Group K: Sunshine Coast (RSC), Central (PL), Auckland (D1), Rabual (RSC)
Group L: Perth (PL), Port Kembla (RSC), The Entrance (RSC), Kensington (RSC)
Group M: Darwin (PL), Hawthorne (RSC), Sydney (PL), Gisborne (RSC)s
Group N: Johannesberg (RSC), Katherine (RSC), Eastwood (D1), Wellington (PL)
Group O: Northen (PL), Kandy (RSC), Brisbane (PL),Melbourne (PL)

Which players are eligible to play for your RSC? I think this is a hairy section here. Extremely hairy... We have no simple way to tell how many games each player has played for their RSC and how many they've played for their top squad. I think RSC shouldn't compete. I will start a thread for this in the board discussion section.

chriswalkerbush - July 16, 2004 09:10 AM (GMT)
Anyone who was in the finalised RSC squad at the start of the season would seem simplest....

MrCharisma - July 16, 2004 09:21 AM (GMT)
I've got the original d/base for this season... so no players have been switched yet. I think I'll notice if some prick has put Paul Deacon into the Northern Territory for example.... after all i've got all the complete squad lists from the ASRL Your Club section

MackDadday - July 16, 2004 10:16 AM (GMT)
magro, that is the gayest logo i have ever seen.

MrCharisma - July 16, 2004 10:28 AM (GMT)
Thanks for your 7's feedback Anthony

DJMaC - July 16, 2004 11:10 AM (GMT)
Cool. I didn't know you had the original database. Shall you be sending out those formies then?

That banner is... how do you say it tactfully... definately the gayest logo I have ever seen.

MackDadday - July 16, 2004 12:15 PM (GMT)
Its look like young braith is really copping it...

DJMaC - July 16, 2004 01:52 PM (GMT)
He looks like he's copping it hard up his cornhole.

trognierrrr - July 16, 2004 08:43 PM (GMT)
so when do u want sides sent in? and whats the mail addy u want them sent to?

MrCharisma - July 16, 2004 10:56 PM (GMT)
I'll post the draw and from their i'll set a deadline. I don't think I'll need to send form guides out, you know who's in your side which can always be cross refrenced with Your Club on the website. I would say Round 1 will take place Wednesday

destructors - July 17, 2004 07:24 AM (GMT)
Gong and Port want in.
Just give the details.

DJMaC - July 17, 2004 10:04 AM (GMT)
As Andrew asked, what are the limits on backs, forwards and halves? In what position (1-10) does a half need to be named in, etc?

..

chriswalkerbush - July 17, 2004 01:16 PM (GMT)
That's odd. In years gone by it was something like.

4 backs
1 half
2 forwards

And then a bench.

thewizard1o1 - July 17, 2004 01:29 PM (GMT)
Magro you can do what ever you like with my teams...

DJMaC - July 17, 2004 10:04 PM (GMT)
That is odd. I assume there is no new sim as in that case we would not be selecting a goalkicker.

What is the deal?

It was like this:
1. Back
2. Back
3. Back
4. Back
5. Half
6. Forward
7. Forward

8. Any
9. Any
10. Any

Right?

chriswalkerbush - July 18, 2004 04:34 AM (GMT)
The sim doesn't differentiate between backs and forwards, it was simply a concept that Marshal put in to make it a little more realistic.

Personally, I'd like it if Magro instituted the same selection rules.

pennywisealfie - July 18, 2004 08:26 AM (GMT)
since i originally named Jonah Lomu for RSC but just before the first game he was promoted to the main side, can lomu play for rsc?

chriswalkerbush - July 18, 2004 09:32 AM (GMT)
I'll address these on a case by case basis. In Lomu's case, yes, if he were originally named as Pine Rivers' player- he is eligible.
