The first ever Rising Star Conference grand final will be contested by the second placed Entrance Tigers and the fast finishing Northern Territory Lions- after both sides won through against tough opposition in this weekend's major semi finals.
The Entrance were more than a match for Birchgrove minus their star winger, Trent Pariah. The game was never really in doubt, the Tigers scoring five tries to one despite missing Romeo Magro, Brian Tabuli, and Samer El Masri. David Razzle took out the man of the match honours in a dominant performance which would have decided once and for all whether he or Pariah was Division Two's most influential player- had the Birchgrove star played. The fulltime score fo 26-6 showed the gap between 2nd and 4th in this year's table.
The Entrance: Guiseppi Magro, Corey Hughes, Sam Isemonger 2, and Brad Morrin. Tabuli 3/5
Birchgrove: Bronsen Saunders. Motu 1/1
PoM Points: David Razzle 3, Craig West 2, and Corey Hughes 1.
The other semi final, pitting 1st placed Sunshine Coast against the seventh placed Northern Territory Lions showcased plenty of scintillating attack as the Lions ran out 30-22 winners in a thriller. Only a 78th minute try from Nathan Tolley sealed the game, which hung in the balance from the kick-off until the final whistle.
Northern Territory: Nathan Tolley 2, Mark Mom, and Joseph Nutley. Tolley 6/7. Williamson 1/1
Sunshine Coast: Reegan Tanner, Jamie Fitzgerald, and Matt Kennedy. Fitzgerald 5/6
PoM Points: Matt Kennedy 3, Nathan Tolley 2, and Reegan Tanner 1.
