The clash for third place came down to Surfers Paradise clashing with the surprise packets- Suva. The Punks had so far proven to be the entertainers of the Risk- downing Wellington in a thriller and then being edged out by Manly in their semi final.

Surfers Paradise entertained again, but not in a close game, the Punks far too good for Suva with their 34-20 win. The Suns were down 34-10 with ten to go, but two late tries salvaged some dignity for the Division Two club.

The Final
The final for the risk pitted foundation Sydney clubs Manly and Sydney against each other. While Manly had scraped through in both of its games- Sydney had hammered all comers in their road to the decider.

The game showed just how good Sydney's form had been in the tournament, the Oilers never in doubt in recording a solid 30-12 victory. The pairing of Craig Gower and Craig Wing was the catalyst for the win- but Manly were generally poor under the pressure of a big game.
