Scotland have come out in their first World Cup match and demolished the AATSI side 26-2 in a dominating display. The AATSI side were the first to get on the scoreboard with a penalty goal by Andrew Walker 5 metres out from the tryline, in the 27th minute after a play the ball infringment by hooker Oliver Wilkes. And thats as close as the AATSI side would get with Scotland shutting them out time and time again. The Scots would finally get on the scoreboard just before halftime with a set backline play linking up with prop Chris Logan who crashed over 15 metres to the right of the post, Gordon Ross had little trouble in converting to give the Scotland side a 6-2 lead into te halftime break.
The Scots were straight back in it after halftime, in the 49th minute following a penalty against the AATSI side for being offside Lee Gilmour ran down the sideline to touch down in the corner, Gordon Ross swung the kick wide to leave the score at 10-2. In the 56th minute the Lee Gilmour was at it again with second rower Corin Barry popping a superb flick pass on the last tackle to give Gilmour the score under the posts, Ross converted to make the score 16-2 in favour of the great Scots. On the very next set after the kick off Scotland were in complete control with Gordon Ross grubbering a kick in behind the line with big prop and captain Scott Logan diving on top to increase the score to 20-2, Gordon Ross converted to give the Scots a commanding 22-2 lead. But more was still to come with the final score of the night coming in the 69th minute following a penalty to Scotland for AATSI once again being offside, Wayne McDonald darted from dummy half on the last to make the final score 26-2, with Ross missing the conversion.
