GROUP A
Group A see the tournament favourites Australia taking on four lessor known nations. Australia's Passage to the last 8 is all but assured, the second spot thou is a different matter with three of the remaining four sides all have a chance to move on to the next stage. Papua New Guinea will no doubt be favourites to take the spot, but if France and South Africa qualified for the finals it wouldn't surprise me. Cook Islands on the other hand are here for the three S's......Sun, Sand and Surf.
Group Winner: Australia.
Runner-Up: South Africa.

GROUP B
Group B appears to be a two horse race with Ireland and Europe appearing to be 'Good Things' to make it to the next round. In which order they qualify however will most likely depend on the outcome of the blockbuster pool game between the two at a packed MCG. Of the others the Germans and the Samoans have the ability to spring a surprise on one of the favoured two and may sneak a position in the last 8. Look for the Japanese to entertain in attack and do next to nothing in defence, will be lucky to win a game.
Group Winner: Ireland.
Runner Up: Europe.

GROUP C
Which Welsh Dragons will turn up for the World Cup? If Wales come to play, watch for them to sweep through this group without much trouble at all....on the other hand if they would rather be at Bondi Beach then the Aussie Stadium, there are more then enough teams in Group C that will happily take their place. AA/TSI will pose the biggest threat to Wales and also score a hell of a lot of tries. Wollongong mentor Brent Douglas will take over the reigns of Scotland from stand in coach Rob Roy, after some impressive trial form leading up to the World Cup, which included a win over Wales. Tonga will beat Russia and may take one game from the other two but are outsiders to make the quarters.
Group Winner: AA/TSI.
Runner-Up: Wales.

GROUP D
By far the strongest of the four groups, this one is as close to set as possible with international heavyweights New Zealand and England set to stage a titanic battle at Suncorp Stadium. It doesn't get much easier for the winner of this group with the two that qualify having to take on the two that emerge out of Group B. Fiji vs. Lebanon should be an exciting game but neither squad has the firepower to match the big two. USA is here simply to make up the numbers.
Group Winner: England.
Runner-Up: New Zealand.

Finals
Australia vs. Wales
Ireland vs. New Zealand
AA/TSI vs. South Africa
England vs. Europe

Semi Finals
Australia vs. England
New Zealand vs. South Africa

Finals
Australia (Beat New Zealand)
England (Beat South Africa)
