Title: Carpet for Drum kits
maddog79 - November 23, 2006 05:41 AM (GMT)
Hey dudes - in December I'm playing a gig in a school hall, we have played there before, and had troubles because my kit kept moving around on the wooden floor it had there on the stage.
Can anyone give me any tips as to what kinds of carpet to get and how to anchor a kit properly? Cheers
'dawg

My last drummer and me broke into an unused apartment and just cut a piece out of there

Haha nice - yeah, they'd know if i stole the school doormats - they're good though i hear. Normal rugs would probably do then i guess, cheers folks

Any heavy duty room carpet will do......the drums will "walk" due to the kick drum spurs not being in place or not being on carpet.....

Some 'drum-talk' there, nice nice :P
Alright, i'll go look in the garage or something or maybe see if i can by a cheapish one.
No more drum 'walking' now!

You really do not need a high priced carpet. Just one that won't move around!

Yeah
Get some double sided tape, a cheap carpet cut off, put the tape on then lay it down
The tape is just there for extra piece of mind. Plus its tape so its easily removed

Not really. The drums and the hardware's own weight will be enough for the carpet not to move around. Most drums and hardware weigh well they aren't light. Double braced hardware is some of the heaviest stuff i have ever lifted. But trust me....just lay the carpet down and set the drums up....nothing will move.

'Extra piece of mind'
Better to be absolutely sure of it not walking rather then it ending up walking.
