Squier are only good for beginners

I am not a big fan of guitars with single coils only. Need a humbucker for my sound really. I have never played a ESP so can not comment but out of the guitars i have played i would say Ibanez for sure. Looking at getting a new one soon. Currently got a Peavey Wolfgang.

not for Rhythm players (which I am), oh and im talking about the classic looking explorer, like the one Gibson makes, not the fucked up looking one from ESP, but the ESP classic explorers are better than gibsons

I'm the same, and ESPs are perfect for me. my guitars got a coil tap switch as well, so i can have single coils when i want B)

thats the ex... after gibson sued fucking ESP for copying their models(explorer and flying v) esp took the flying V off the market and explorer and changed it to EX and made the design gayer... and the reason why is because ESP made more money for flying V and explorer then gibson... so gibson sued...

Gibson is way better. And why should ESP steal gibsons designs just because they can't do something new. ESP is still cool but Gibson is just a class for it self.

its all preference. Gibsons are very nice guitars (obviously) but, to quote the guy in the shop i bought my guitar from :P, ESPs are more of a 'players' guitar than gibson. Pick up an SG, or a Les Paul, and put it on a strap around your shoulders. What happens? They fall down. Do the same with an ESP....balanced very nicely. ESPs tend to have 24 frets, as opposed to 22 with Gibsons....they normally have EMGs, imo far better pickups as well...

i know 3 people who have gibsons and i've played on them....my mates uncle has a custom gibson that costs about £7k...i also tried some in shops when i got my new guitar....

but it doesn't matter, my point about the gibsons applies to all gibsons, not just the cheap ones.

actually the explorer and flying V were ripped off... hence the reason why ESP was sued... I called up ESP cause my friend wanted to know how much an ESP Custom explorer is... and the guy at the shop said they dont make em anymore for legal reasons since Gibson sued ESP... hence the reason for the shittier EX out on the market and no more ESP Flying Vs

the viper looks nothing like the SG but it does look like other guitars but the viper didnt sell as well as the explorer or flying vs and since everyone was getting esp... not cause they are better whcih they are but because of Metallica... if metallica never used ESP, ESP wouldnt be as popular as they are now... James Hetfield made the Explorer really popular

FucT666 - March 5, 2006 06:05 PM (GMT)
Gibson blow, they are overpriced for a piece of wood and some wires

When I went to pick up my EC-1000 at samash the guy told me Gibsons suck cause they dont last as long as ESPs... I doubt thats true cause it depends on how you maintain them.. but I think ESPs are better... Ive heard some people say epiphones are better than gibsons...

in some cases yed Epiphones are better than Gibson, like my 99' Etilist 1962 SG, its better than most of the Gibsons except the ones that are over $1,500 (mine was $1,250 plus tax).

i just realized, Gibson couldnt really sue ESP cause it was different enough than the Gibson Explorer, i mean if every company sued when one of their designs was ripped off the only companies left would be Gibson and Fender (and the smaller ones they own), cause just about every company has some version of the Strat and Les Paul, fuck i mean Epiphone has its own version of the Strat, and the one i played was like $300 and i compared it to a $1k Fender Strat and the Epi sounded so much better, it didnt have that annoying humming noise when it was on the treble pickup and i was about to buy it but i was $70 short

Guitars

James is a major endorsee of ESP and has been since 1991, best known for playing custom-made Explorer style guitars with an EMG 81/60 set for pickups. Arguably the one person who made the model famous. His popularization of the model could easily be considered a big catalyst in Gibson's decision to sue ESP over loss of profits (Gibson made the model in the later 1950's and has allowed other companies to build replicas...until they make substantial money off of it).

theres the explanation, found it after searching long and hard on google... also explains why Gibson doesnt sue over other copies... Like I said before other models werent as popular as the Explorer and ESP made more money the Gibson on the Explorer.... also it was james fault like I thought and said in earlier posts... I guess same with flying v cause ESP doesnt make a flying V and I saw something about ESP being afriad to release Alexis siggy model because their afraid of Jackson suing them...???

thats kinda gay, youd think that they would settle and have a certain % of profit go to Gibson since they designed the model, that way its a win-win situation ESP gets to make the Explorer and V and Gibson still gets some cash from it... but no we get stuck with the gay looking shitty Ex :madfire: :madfire:
