I've been using Guitar Pro for some time now, and I must say the new way of displaying notations and tabs in GP5 is REALLY neat. Printing has also been improved in the new version. It looks great, in my opinion.
[Image]I've got mixed feelings about the RSE engine though. It really sucks for metal or distortion in general, though the clean sounds are impressive. The drum samples are the worst though. They're really fucked up and unbalanced. It's a start though, but I'll still be using MIDI. I hope ForteMP works for GP5...
I'd give GP5 an 8/10 rating. It's a decent app, works great for song-writing; but the whole RSE thingy was way over hyped. Guitar Pro 5 is
close to perfection.
Oh, and wah-wah is teh fun. :P

well you guys I use tabit... and alot of midi sounds sucks in general but I use sound fonts I have Les Paul sound font that would cost 30 bucks... Sound fonts are for keyboards and shit and I guess thats how bands like dream theater get the keyboard to have such an amazing dist sound....ummm goodle creative sound font bank manager... then cool soundfont downloads... check it out their really cool ill put some samples

Sounds like a hardware problem. I've got no problems at all with 1gb ram and a 2ghz 64bit CPU.

Yup, the RSE sucks. Still, GP5 is not about the sounds. It's a great tool for reading and writing tabs.
It's also great for making backing tracks. Just export your GP file as .midi then import the midi file in Fruity Loops or whatever program you prefer and assign some nice soundfonts to it. I made some leet 'tallica backing tracks yesterday doing that. :)

yea if you guys listen to the thing I uploaded with the sound font manager its a great back track!!
The_Master_Of_Puppets - December 4, 2005 11:15 AM (GMT)
Yes the sound isn't all that fantastic but its better than midi at least. Its pretty cool to play along too!
