metalheadfinland - November 20, 2005 06:04 PM (GMT)
Ok,how the fuck should i play this ?
janez79 - November 20, 2005 06:23 PM (GMT)
you have to , vibrate the string with your left hand an at the same time pick tight with your guitar pick,
FucT666 - November 20, 2005 06:25 PM (GMT)
Pinch harmonic?
During the solo?
metalheadfinland - November 20, 2005 06:31 PM (GMT)
During the solo.(i think)
FucT666 - November 20, 2005 06:58 PM (GMT)
Yeah pinch harmonic.
Ill outline it, you play a note around 12 on one of the bottom strings (best ones to solo with) and hold the guitar pic close to the end then pick the string while pressing down the 12th fret and as your thumb goes down it should mute the string making a sound.
I dont think that helped so here some tutorials for it... annoying to learn from words tho.

This may be a stupid guestion but..Is Artificial Harmonic same thing as Pinch Harmonic,or different ?
FucT666 - November 20, 2005 07:11 PM (GMT)
Well i dunno which part of the song you mean.
To get any harmonic press your finger lightly over a fret, the 5th fret works perfect to test. But i dunno, maybe listen to janez see as he listens to metallica more then me

Pinch/Artificial Harmonics are basically done by doing a "follow through" with your thumb when you play a note. It's like when you throw a baseball and you follow through with your hand. Instead of just picking the string, allow you thumb to continue the motion so it grazes the string just after you pick it. It works very well from the 4th, 7th, and 12th fret.
janez79 - November 20, 2005 11:46 PM (GMT)
it also works really great on 1st fret

Ok to do the pinch harm for mop solo... I think it is the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fret on G... Ok anyways to do the pinch basically like they said when you pick the string flick the pick so your thumb brushes over the string... Anyways... If you own a wah wah pedal, use it for that part, if you push it down it willl filter the lows so you will get a nice loud high pinch harmonic...
FucT666 - November 21, 2005 10:34 AM (GMT)
Ok your the 3rd person to explain it haha
lookralphsbak - November 21, 2005 08:17 PM (GMT)
well Im just helping him...

janez79 - November 22, 2005 12:07 AM (GMT)
why are some of you making the thing harder.
its just
you have to vibrate the string and hit the string with the very end of your pick and your thumb helps you there
no big deal
FucT666 - November 22, 2005 09:20 AM (GMT)
No janez we are not making it sound hard.
Fuck vibrating the string the hard part to master is the thumb following after the pick to deaden the string
lookralphsbak - November 22, 2005 09:22 AM (GMT)
Like I said use a wah pedal... A- you make the pinch harm louder and higher by filtering lows,
B- you can cover your mistakes by rocking the pedal back and forth... kinda like Kirk Hammett
damage jackal - November 22, 2005 10:16 AM (GMT)
for some players vibrato is hard thing to do
FucT666 - November 22, 2005 10:20 AM (GMT)
Yeah but you should master the pick/thumb thing first, them add whatever you like to it
damage jackal - November 22, 2005 10:23 AM (GMT)
me? no, i can do that solo, im just saying as overall
brav69 - November 22, 2005 01:11 PM (GMT)
Do not know this solo but in regards to artificial/pinched harmonics i always found the thumb thing a bit confusing. I can do artificial harmonics no problem what so ever but when i was learning it always confused me when people said to follow through with the thumb. I found it easier to attack the string a bit more agreesivly and the thicker part of the plec. Hey but thats just me!

Definitely. It's the real way to do it, and you don't need any extra equipment for it. You can do it whenever you want.

well i hit the pinch harmonic about 7 times, i bend the 1st 5 times and vibratio the last 2.
yes its the 4th fret on the G string, is easy as hell 2 pull off there
