Title: Kirks Wah Sound
Description: Hows He Get It???
lookralphsbak - August 16, 2005 03:01 AM (GMT)
Ok I know Kirk has an Ernie Ball Volume pedal with Cry Baby technology in it... But hows he get the really deep ass wah sound... Like for example his enter sandman solos... I cant get it to get that deep and I want that sound.... I have the Boss PW-10, Its a modeling/ multieffect wah wah pedal... Its good but not giving me that wah sound I desire... But it sometimes does when I hit 2 strings at the same time.. maybe thats what Kirk does but I dont know... Is it the pedal or is it a technique Kirk uses???

both probably, and also the amp he uses probably helps with it too

I think that the louder your amp is the more deeper wah you get too.. i turned my amp up and it had more definition... I read some reviews on my wah and people said it was one of the best they tried just that you have to actually read the manual to get your own wah sound... but yea... they say the range is amazing... and shit... but I guess when i go back to college Ill try to fiure out what i want and shit...

I know a trick that many guitarist use (including hendrix) is to use a bass wah!
It may sound crazy but it boosts the bass more instead of treble (standard guitar wah)
I got some crazy ass wah sounds using a morley bass wah.
Maybe thats it??
:bang:

and you control 2 at the same time how?...
but a bass wah is sick... thats a good idea... my wah is made for guitar and bass... since mine is a modeling wah pedal one model option is a bass wah... I guess i should try that and then play with the range a lil

hey lookralphsbak, if you have a way of recording or anything, is there any chance you could just send me some clips of you with the wah and tell me your settings? I've got the pw-10, same as you, but i can only get a really weak wah sound from it, i need to know if mine's busted or if i'm using the wrong settings or anything? cheers.

no problemo... i sent my computer to my school but Im going up on wed... ill record it on wed but I have to hook up my internet and shit... but i know what i do... i find that you get decent wah sound with morely model or cry baby and if you have range on like 1 or 2 o'clock... but yea mine is kinda weak to unless I hit 2 strings at same time... also try playing around when the pedal is facing 45 degrees.. rock back and forth from like 45 degrees to like 35 degrees or something... i find i can get the notes to sound like their saying wah wah wah and shit... but ok ill

I do not like the sound of wah wah pedals that much but the bass wah stuff is a great idea. Tried it out once but never really wanted to buy it as it was a bit expensive. Beleive it or not my digitech whammy wah has some decent settings on it for wah sounds especially the filter wahs.
